Der kompakte Geldbeutel Bargen von Alpenleder wird aus kolumbianischem Vachetta-Rinderleder gefertigt. Dieses Leder ist ungeprägt und zeigt an der Oberfläche die natürliche Struktur der Haut. Mit einer Stärke von 1,6 bis 1,8 mm gehört es zu den robusten Vollledern, die im Alltag beansprucht werden dürfen, ohne empfindlich zu reagieren.

Was Vachetta-Leder von industriell behandelten Ledern unterscheidet: Es wird pflanzlich gegerbt, also ohne Chrom 6, Formaldehyd oder Azofarbstoffe. Stattdessen kommen Wachse, Fett und natürliche Öle zum Einsatz. Durch den täglichen Gebrauch entsteht über die Monate hinweg eine Patina, die jedes Exemplar zu einem Unikat macht.
