From ancient virtue ethics to the modern pursuit of happiness and late-modern contemporary concepts, theology and philosophy continuously deal with corresponding fundamental questions: What is happiness? What makes life good? Does happiness lie within me or outside of myself? Is there also happiness in misfortune? If happiness comes from God, how is he with those who are unhappy?
