Der Fokus seiner Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografien liegt auf der oft surrealistischen Realität des harten, kargen Alltags der Bewohner, die er mit schwarzem Humor und großer Empathie porträtierte. Seine Bilder berühren, schockieren, bleiben schmerzhaft im Gedächtnis.In Südafrika gehört soziale Ausgrenzung auch Jahre nach dem politischen Wandel zum Alltag – in der Post-Apartheid-Gesellschaft durch das enorme sozioökonomische Ungleichgewicht, von dem zunehmend auch die »Erste Welt« betroffen ist. Crocquet hält uns den Spiegel vor, lässt uns erkennen, dass die Situation des von ihm beleuchteten Mikrokosmos auf jede andere postmoderne Gesellschaft übertragen werden kann. Pretty Appearance, BUT the base is very thin and RAZOR SHARP. I almost sent it back, but I had matching gold border tape which I added to it to cover those sharp edges.
