Die Spieler übernehmen die Rolle von Siedlern, die ihr eigenes Königreich auf einem variablen Spielplan mit unterschiedlichen Geländefeldern errichten. Ziel ist es, durch den geschickten Bau von Siedlungen und das Erfüllen variabler Siegbedingungen so viel Gold wie möglich zu sammeln.

Das Spiel zeichnet sich durch seine modulare Spielplangestaltung aus, die aus vier von acht möglichen quadrantenförmigen Segmenten zusammengesetzt wird. Drei zufällig gezogene Kingdom Builder-Karten legen wechselnde Ziele fest, die für jede Partie andere Strategien erfordern. Darüber hinaus bestimmen Sonderaktionskarten spezielle Möglichkeiten, etwa das Versetzen von Siedlungen, was das Spiel sehr abwechslungsreich gestaltet.

Pro Zug bauen die Spieler jeweils drei Siedlungen auf Feldern der gleichen Geländeart entsprechend der gezogenen Geländekarte und versuchen so, die vorgegebenen Ziele zu erfüllen. Kingdom Builder legt Wert auf indirekte Interaktion und räumliche Planung, wodurch sich ein spannender Spielverlauf ergibt, der sich gut für einen vielfältigen Gesellschaftsspiel-Abend eignet.

I loved the impact Willa had on Sage just by being her authentic self and I loved the belief Willa had in Sage to think beyond her career as a soccer star. They were good for each other, truly seeing each other's finest capabilities. I enjoyed the settings of the beach, soccer world and zoo, but it was their beautiful journey together that made this book so good. I highly recommend it!
