Das Eau de Parfum
Houbigant hat eine klassische Kristall-Flasche vom Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts modernisiert, die ursprünglich von Baccarat für Houbigant entworfen und hergestellt wurde. Die Flasche wurde für das Parfum „Idéal“ für die Weltausstellung geschaffen, die in Paris im Jahr 1900 stattfand und durch den Eiffelturm symbolisiert wurde, welcher am Eingang der Ausstellung gebaut wurde.

Die blaue und goldene Kartonage erinnert an die wunderschöne Irisblüte und öffnet sich in blühende Irisfelder.

Iris, das wertvolle Rohmaterial
Iris ist eine Pflanze mit eleganten und stilvollen Blüten, welche einen versteckten Schatz verbirgt. Bereits von den Ägyptern als heilig erachtet, wurde die Iris, unter dem heraldischen Namen Lilie, das Symbol des Königtums in Frankreich.

Diese aristokratische Blume bringt eines der luxuriösesten Rohmaterialien mit sich, das Parfümeuren zur Verfügung steht. Es war Caterina de’ Medici, die sie im 16. Jahrhundert berühmt gemacht hat. Seitdem wird die Iris in Parfumkompositionen sowie zum Parfümieren von Handschuhen und Puder verwendet.

Der Iris-Extraktionsprozess ist sehr lang und aufwendig. Die Pflanze muss drei Jahre lang wachsen, bevor sie geerntet wird. Das Rhizom, aus dem der „beurre“, die „Irisbutter“, dann gewonnen wird, muss für mindestens drei Jahre trocknen, bevor der Parfümeur mit der Extraktion fortfahren kann. Ihr Geruch ist außerordentlich präsent, fast invasiv, mit pulvrigen Facetten, und setzt ihre waldig-grünen Akzente frei, wodurch sie an den wohligen Geruch von warmem Brot erinnert.

Überraschenderweise ist es nicht ihre erhabene Blüte, sondern ihr unterirdischer Teil, der diesen Geruchsschatz innehält. Die Rhizome, die Wurzeln der Blumen, enthalten das Jonon, ein einzigartig duftendes und opulentes Molekül, aus dem die Iris-Noten bestehen. Die Blüte selbst hat keinen Geruch.

As an admirer of the work that Dan Sullivan and Benjamin Hardy have done individually, I was sure that a collaboration, two “whos” getting together, would be a good hit. And a good it it is! This requires thinking, and thinking is hard, and in most cases we do NOT dedicate time to thinking, so the concepts slide into the past, and no change happens.
