The Peter Rabbit Library is a timeless boxed set which includes hardcover editions of the following stories: The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin, The Tailor of Gloucester, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of Two Bad Mice, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, The Tale of Tom Kitten, The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck, and The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies.
The author, Beatrix Potter, is one of the world’s best-loved children’s authors and has captured imaginations, young and old, for over 100 years with her beautifully illustrated stories. Her art was inspired by the lush landscapes in the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life. Beatrix Potter was born on July 28, 1866, at No 2, Bolton Gardens, Kensington, London. She loved nature and drawing as a child. In 1893, Beatrix sat down to write a picture letter to Noel Moore, the five-year-old son of her ex-governess, all about a naughty rabbit called Peter. Noel was ill in bed and so Beatrix wrote to him: "My dear Noel, I don't know what to write to you, so I shall tell you a story about four little rabbits...." And that's how The Tale of Peter Rabbit was created. It wasn't until 1902 that Frederick Warne published what would become one of the most beloved stories in children's books.
Since 1902, over 250 million Beatrix Potter books have been sold worldwide. Over 2 million books are sold annually worldwide, which translates into four books being sold every minute! With beautiful classic-style artwork and festive narrative, this is a playful rhyming text to read aloud with young children. A fun, interactive way to introduce even the youngest readers to the world of Peter Rabbit.
