INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Select & Apply Counselling Therapies to Meet Client Needs course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in selecting, explaining, documenting, applying, combining, evaluating and reflecting on counselling therapies and techniques according to client needs, desired changes, co-existing issues, therapy principles, organisational requirements and client outcomes.

Selecting and applying counselling therapies involves analysing client needs, issues and goals, considering developmental status and readiness for change, identifying co-existing issues, interpreting therapy information and selecting approaches that are suitable for the client’s situation. This work is important because counselling practice must be matched to the client’s needs, communicated in language the client can understand, documented appropriately, applied within the principles and limitations of selected therapies, and reviewed to identify referral needs, client outcomes and opportunities for practice improvement.

The course assessment focuses on your ability to select counselling therapies by analysing client needs, issues and desired changes; consider developmental status, response to change and co-existing issues; interpret therapy information, benefits and limitations; recognise own comfort levels with techniques; select suitable therapies for client situations; communicate therapy details clearly to clients; document selected therapies in records; use techniques according to selected therapy principles and applications; combine techniques and processes effectively; apply counselling skills within each modality and technique; identify indicators requiring referral; report or refer issues according to organisational requirements; evaluate therapy use against client outcomes; reflect on practice, identify improvements and maintain knowledge of emerging counselling therapy trends.

By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can select and apply counselling therapies to meet client needs by assessing client circumstances, choosing suitable therapeutic approaches, explaining and documenting selected therapies, applying counselling techniques appropriately, recognising referral indicators, evaluating client outcomes and using reflection and current therapy knowledge to improve counselling practice.

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
