The Folly Bench is where engineering meets organic art. Designed by the world-renowned Ron Arad, this piece is more than a bench, it is a continuous, fluid ribbon of brown polyethylene that defies the static nature of furniture. Its name suggests a whimsical architectural structure, and indeed, its sweeping curves evoke a sense of movement and freedom. While Arad is famous for his limited-edition metal sculptures, his collaboration with Magis brings that same high-concept aesthetic to a durable, functional piece that can accommodate up to 10 people simultaneously. The design features a seamless, serpentine shape that blurs the distinction between seat and backrest. It appears to "unroll" across the floor. Despite its sculptural appearance, the undulations are carefully calculated to provide a surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic seating experience at various points along the curve. The rotational-molded polyethylene features a subtle, leather-like texture in a deep "bark" brown, giving it a sophisticated, natural feel that grounds its futuristic shape.
