About the Workshop:

Working with literary scholar Barbara Mann and book artist Roni Gross, students will draw on the unique resources of two downtown institutions (YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and Center for Book Arts) for an immersive experience in modern Jewish creativity.

The YIVO archives contain a multitude of artifacts, manuscripts, and books about Yiddish culture. Using objects and books from this world-renowned collection as inspiration, workshop participants will attend hands-on sessions at YIVO about the emergence and flourishing of modern Yiddish culture, in Eastern Europe and in the United States, and then create a collaborative print at the Center for Book Arts.

Students will have two morning sessions in the YIVO archives, and two afternoon sessions at the Center for Book Arts in the printshop, learning techniques related to the artworks we have seen and working on a collaborative print. The last day will be a six-hour session at the Center for Book Arts on the press.

Students will get experience printing on the Vandercook proof press, using wood type, cutting linoleum blocks, pressure printing and making multicolor collaborative prints.

Required Materials:

All staff, artists, students, and guests are required to show proof of vaccination upon entering CBA and must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all times. If you have a medical or religious exemption, please email [email protected].

  • Students can purchase a small mounted linoleum block (it is on wood) - no larger than 4 x 6 - if they wish to have the option of carving one. Other materials will be provided

Good length, nice and comfy!
Fit Type: 33" Inseam, Size: Medium, Color: Army Green
Update after wearing on international trip: I still love these pants, but something about the high waist doesn’t look great on me if I wear a shorter length or cropped top (usually what I wear with high waisted pants). The waistband is too wide, and it looks unflattering. I may try to get it altered (again) to have a thinner waistband, but not eager to spend any more on these than I already have. 😭 Original review: I love these pants….I really wanted a natural fiber pant that wasn’t ankle length (I’m 5’8”)! I do NOT like that so so so many pants (from some of my favorite name brands but especially here on Amazon also) are “high waters”. These are a tad long at 33” (they didn’t have the 31” in size M in the color I wanted), but I will get them hemmed. I am also long waisted and don’t usually like wide waistbands, but this waistband doesn’t bother me, and they look great on. They did not seem to shrink after washing, and I even put them in the dryer on low for about 10 minutes (I wasn’t brave enough to go longer), and they did not shrink much. I was hoping they might shrink a tad in length. They must run a tad large, since I am a bit heavy right now, but they aren’t too tight (like so much of my wardrobe is at the moment). They are very comfortable, and I’m glad to have some pants to wear when I travel.

Nice!
Fit Type: 33" Inseam, Size: Medium, Color: White
Surprisingly nice. Fit is good and just a bit long. I expected shrinkage, however, after washing in cold water and drying warm, there is none that I could see. They wash nicely and don't need an iron, at least in the white version that I ordered.

Perfect material for comfort & offering different lengths for taller women!
Fit Type: 33" Inseam, Size: Medium, Color: Black
Great pants with different lengths. I love these pants& being 5”8 I wanted a longer length for wearing heels so the33 inch long works great. I plan on dry cleaning to keep them looking new! I now own 4 pairs & waiting for more colors to be available in the long length.

Great quality, a bit frumpy
Just ok. Probably should have returned these as I feel a bit like a grandma when I wear them, So they hang in my closet. Not super flattering but nice quality and fabric. Thickness is perfect. Style just isn’t for me but comfy
