Naji al-Ali grew up in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh in the south Lebanese city of Sidon, where his gift for drawing was discovered by the Palestinian poet Ghassan Kanafani in the late 1950s. Early the following decade he left for Kuwait, embarking on a thirty-year career that would see his cartoons published daily in newspapers from Cairo to Beirut, London to Paris.

Resolutely independent and unaligned to any political party, Naji al-Ali strove to speak to and for the ordinary Arab people; the pointed satire of his stark, symbolic cartoons brought him widespread renown. Through his most celebrated creation, the witness-child Handala, al-Ali criticized the brutality of Israeli occupation, the venality and corruption of the regimes in the region, and the suffering of the Palestinian people, earning him many powerful enemies and the soubriquet “the Palestinian Malcolm X.”

For the first time in book form, A Child in Palestine presents the work of one of the Arab world’s greatest cartoonists, revered throughout the region for his outspokenness, honesty and humanity.

“That was when the character Handala was born. The young, barefoot Handala was a symbol of my childhood. He was the age I was when I had left Palestine and, in a sense, I am still that age today and I feel that I can recall and sense every bush, every stone, every house and every tree I passed when I was a child in Palestine. The character of Handala was a sort of icon that protected my soul from falling whenever I felt sluggish or I was ignoring my duty. That child was like a splash of fresh water on my forehead, bringing me to attention and keeping me from error and loss. He was the arrow of the compass, pointing steadily towards Palestine. Not just Palestine in geographical terms, but Palestine in its humanitarian sense—the symbol of a just cause, whether it is located in Egypt, Vietnam or South Africa.”—Naji al-Ali, in conversation with Radwa Ashour

Greasy and way too glittery.
Color: 2pc
The fine spray was nice but Way too shimmery! Looked like I left a strip club! Not a bad thing, just not 24-7

Glitter
Color: 1pc, Color: 1pc
The ingredient list checks out as a sunscreen, but for SPF 50, it seemed too watery from my observation. It was easy to apply because it’s light and watery, but I doubt it’s as effective as it should be. This glowing and lightweight sunscreen also has a faint watermelon like scent, and all those nice oil based ingredients moisturized my skin well. The spray is convenient and easy to use, and I like that about it. However, I am just not a big fan of glittery stuff. Whether it’s on a Christmas card or on my skin, whether I like it or not, it will end up being eaten or breathed in one way or another. Overall, this is an okay product, and I really wish it didn’t have glitter in it.

Summer ready

This is very cute sheer mist for all over body. I’m not sure if it really works as sunscreen because I feel it too watery to apply it nicely all over. I definitely don’t intend to use it as facial sunscreen (I’m trying to protect my face from more dark spots). The mist is very sparkly and I love it. Once sprayed it provides sparkly finish and it looks nice. There’s no smell (or very very mild one) and it absorbs really fast due to it being very watery. Now as someone mentioned the spray part is a bit annoying- it leaves patches of watery spray instead of fine mist. You definitely need to tap it in after spraying which is a bit annoying. I’ll definitely use this as part of my pool/beach routine - probably on top of “normal” sunscreen for all over my body. It adds a bit of hydration too which is nice.

Too Strongly Fragranced and Poor Spray Application
Color: 1pc
I did not care for this product. The fragrance is far too strong for something intended to be used on the face, and it becomes overwhelming quickly. The nozzle is also a major issue—it doesn’t deliver a fine mist like a setting spray should. Instead, it kind of splats product onto the face, which makes even application difficult and defeats the purpose of a setting spray. While it does technically set makeup and add a bit of shimmer, the drawbacks are significant enough that I personally would not use it again.

Nice Concept, But Coverage Feels Uneven
Color: 1pc
I really like the idea of this sunscreen setting mist and I do like that it gives the skin a subtle sparkle/glowy finish. That said, the spray itself doesn’t feel evenly distributed, and it dries almost immediately, so there’s no time to blend or redistribute the product. I find myself spraying multiple times from different angles before I feel like my skin is actually covered and protected. It’s pretty and convenient in theory, but I’m not fully confident in the level of sun protection it provides.
