This classic, all pine abode is perfectly sized for red-headed, hairy, or red-bellied woodpeckers, with its deep body and 2.25" diameter entry. A slate square is sourced from old Maine architecture, repurposed from recut slate roofing tiles, and surrounds this entry, preventing birds from enlarging it, while the roof slopes downward, overhanging it for a dry nest. Additional gaps in the corners of the base offer drainage, and one side panel swings upward to seasonally clean the roost.

Its natural, yellowish hue and top gaps prevent nestlings from overheating, and a metal hanger on the back aids in mounting the home. As woodpeckers regularly excavate cavities in decaying trees, the nest box also includes a generous bag of wood shavings to better attract these birds and encourage their natural tendencies.
