2) The Rise of Hastinapur (Hastinapur, #2)

Amba, Kunti and Gandhari arrive to tell their tales in this powerful sequel to Winds of Hastinapur. Here we see the history of Hastinapur take shape in three separate threads.

Amba, the princess of Kosala, thinks her future is secure when Bhishma allows her to go to her beloved. But fate conspires to drive her deep into the forest, where she must discover herself.

Pritha, the daughter of Kuntibhoja, finds herself embroiled in an adventure that takes her to Mathura. Here the secrets of the great city are revealed to her.

Gandhari, the princess of Gandhara, gives everything in her power to withstand the psychological onslaught of Bhishma. But it may not be enough.

3) The Queens of Hastinapur (Hastinapur, #3)

In this third installment, Gandhari and Kunti come face to face in the court of Hastinapur. Despite being the wife of the older prince, Gandhari finds that she must be on her guard if her sons are to become future rulers of the Kuru house.

Kunti finds her own world crumble as her husband decrees that they must go to the forest. There she ends up with five sons - not all of them her own, and none of them her husband's. Will these princes ever be accepted as the sons of Pandu?

Product Description

Have you ever wondered about the silences of the Mahabharata?

Not the same old tired retellings of a single incident from a different point of view, but the actual silences. What must Bhishma's childhood have been like in Heaven, in the arms of his mother Ganga? What was Satyavati's inner life like, before Shantanu came to her and offered her his hand?

So many unsung characters in Vyasa's great epic: Amba, Kunti, Gandhari... so many untold tales; so many untouched meadows.

In the Hastinapur books, you will find yourself lost in the stories that Vyasa left unexplored. Join Ganga as she wrestles with her ambition of being a great river Goddess while being mother to young Bhishma; Satyavati as she wonders why she has been placed in Fate's path; Kunti as she wakes one morning on a sun-kissed bed that changes her life; Gandhari as she yearns to steer her kingdom to glory...

And Amba. Amba the scorned princess of Kosala who, after being wronged by Bhishma, has to find herself deep in the woods of Naimisha.

All these women - every single one of them - are Destiny's daughters. Their choices, their struggles, and their deepest wishes shape the path of history. And it leads all the way to Kurukshetra, where the battle to end all battles will be fought. Far, far into the future.

And lurking in the background, pulling strings that are invisible to mere mortals, are the people of Meru. Guarding the Crystal Lake. Driven by desires of their own.

Come - I assure you: you've never seen the Mahabharata like this.

The silences of the Mahabharata wish to speak to you. They wish to take you away from the humdrum of daily life, away into the past and into the distance, where kingdoms rise only to fall, and where the Ganga flows unfettered, pristine and youthful.

The silences of the Mahabharata wish to open themselves up to you. Won't you give them a chance?

Why the revisionism?
Format: Paperback
I kinda want to give this a try but I dislike that the artist chose to change Robin's costume. What is this? Dick Grayson Robin always wore the same costume, so why is a "throwback" story using new uniforms? (Batman's is also not quite the original.) I guess modern readers just think the classic togs are "silly," but that's on them. Respect the material, comics creators! Or leave it alone.

Simply magnificent
Format: Kindle
A new perspective on an old and familiar story. The art is outstanding. The story is compelling. It needs to be a regular ongoing series. DC...please handle this. Thanks.

Probably the best thing to come out of the "New 52" reboot
Format: Paperback
In general, I'm not a big fan of the new 52 reboot of the DC universe. On the other hand, it produced this really interesting investigation of the iffy morality and general maladjustment and emotional fallout caused by the "child soldier" issue of the multiple underage vigilantes in the Batman family of comic books. The scripting for this story is excellent, in that it makes clear the broad range of personalities represented by the 4 Robins, Bluebird, Spoiler, and Black Bat (who isn't named as such in this particular story for some reason), and aside from that the art is really gorgeous. I think this may very well be the best thing to come out of the new 52 reboot.

Don't listen to the negative reviews. There is so much to love in this story.
Format: Paperback
First off, I would like to say that this is mostly for people who either A) bought vol1 and want to finish the story, and B) fans of not only Batman, but also the "legacy" that he has left behind him. More on that later. This is the second half of the weekly 26 week story revolving around The former robins, and deals heavily around The Spoiler, Cassandra Cain (batgirl) and Harper Row (bluebird) the main thing I have to say about this story is that it more effectively does what "batman eternal" and "Robin war" we're trying to accomplish. In batman eternal, the story was over 50 issues long, and there were so many times where the story was abysmal because of filler and boring events that made it feel like such a cash grab, and with Robin war, by the end of that story there is almost nothing important that happens, leaving you to feel like you could have went without reading it. Batman and robin eternal not only tells a captivating story, but with important enough events that justify your time and money put into this story. I can whole heartedly recommend this to ANY fan of not only Azrael (very important character in the 90s when knight fall was going on) but also Cassandra Cain (new batgirl up until 2011) and they in my opinion are the highlights of this story because of the justice they are given as comic book characters. We haven't seen them since in the new earth, so it's nice that they got some recognition before rebirth. Hopefully we see them more, but this is also a solid story for the robins as well, each of Batmans pupils gets justice at some point in the story, so I can say a fan of any of them will be pleased. I can say this especially as a Red Hood fan who longs for the day that Jason Tood will finally get a good/solo ongoing series. Now with that said, the art can be inconsistent seeing as how there are more than one of them, and the "big plot twist" shown in this second half can be pretty obvious that "there's more than meets the eye" with the situation, but I rather not give spoilers. Again This book is MORE THAN WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY if you Like ANY robin Like Scott Snyders "bluebird" Like the old ninja looking batgirl Like Azrael Like batman stories that don't have batman as the main focus
