The surface layer of the stone is a lavender purple grey. Beneath it is a carnelian colored amber red that is revealed on the back and sides of the stone. The banded agate in this 15k gold Victorian signet ring was left uncarved—allowing the agate’s beauty to be the centerpiece of the ring. The surface layer of the stone is a lavender purple-grey. Beneath it is a carnelian-colored amber red that is revealed on the back and sides of the stone. The ring’s setting is open on the bottom and the stone is translucent when held up to the light; because of this, it glows when worn. The signet is shield-shaped, denoting protection for its wearer, bezel set, with chevron and v-shapes along the sides of the ring—a design that is minimal but very effective. 

During its long life, the ring has acquired the perfect amount of wear to soften its edges, adding to its beauty and making it a special piece that feels good on the hand. Both bold and graceful, it is a great ring for a person of any gender. 

The ring contains several hallmarks on its interior including the maker’s mark V&S, the date mark V for 1870, the marks for Birmingham, England, and the mark for 15k gold. 

The ring weighs 6.75 grams. The agate measures approximately 1/2” x 3/8”. 

Ring size 6.75. The ring could be resized, but at the risk of destroying the hallmarks.

Until today, I would have given this bed 5 stars. When I was looking for a new pet bed, I searched for “waterproof” and “machine washable”. My bad for not verifying those attributes before purchasing as I have learned Amazon search results are not reliable. Today one of my dogs peed on the floor and dragged his bed over it. When I discovered it, I wasn’t concerned because it is waterproof and machine washable. Uh, no it is not. The cushion was wet and was too big to adequately fit in my washer and I could tell the fabric wouldn’t hold up so I hand washed in the tub. But by this evening it was still pretty wet so I tossed it in the dryer on low - by itself - to get the damp out. Well, when I took it out, the cushion had ripped open. Meanwhile, I put the cover in the washing machine. It washed okay, but the plastic part that helps the the opening stay open came out and broke. I cannot find a hole to attempt to put it back in. I am really irritated that it isn’t better made.

Squishy and comfy
Very well made bed. Had I known about Amazon Basics brand sooner, I would have gotten two of these earlier. The other bed I purchased was a Snoozer XL and it arrived in a super compact state; the filler was even compressed and is therefore not as squishy and comfy as this Amazon Basics bed. The dog pictured is about 41 lbs, so it's perfect for her size (my other dog is a 70 lb pittie and he also fits on the bed).The 'hood' does detach, whereas the Snoozer one is permanently attached. Having the hood detach for washing the cover was another plus for this bed. The zippers are heavy duty and the 'sheepskin' is soft (I haven't washed the cover yet, so I don't know if it will pill). This bed arrived ready to use out of the box (very basic packaging); the filler was not compressed, so the bed is definitely more fluffy. This is the XL size and it is smaller than the Snoozer XL size but fits the corner of my room better. This is definitely worth the money.

A few things: 1) this bed is much smaller than you think. Even if you measure it the way it’s constructed makes the area under the flap super small. 2) my dogs, burrow under blankets, covers, everything. But they don’t burrow under this. It’s designed to be appealing to humans, but dogs don’t care for it. 3) you probably already read this another reviews, but the flap doesn’t really stay up at all. That wouldn’t be a problem for my dogs, but it may be for yours. My recommendation – don’t buy this. It’s a gimmick. They make others with larger areas under the flap that are more expensive, but it’s worth the money instead of wasting it on this.
