The Tiffen 5.65 x 5.65" Softnet Black 3 Filter is a softening filter meant to replicate the look of draping silk over the lens in order to soften or diffuse light. This filter works by scattering light entering the lens through a mesh pattern, resulting in an overall even, soft glow. The black distinction helps to maintain the overall contrast of the scene by reducing the overall spread of light into the shadows. The 3 density provides more softening than the 2, but less than the 4.
Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 5.65 x 5.65" / 143.5 x 143.5mm.
- Simulates the effect of placing fabric in front of the lens to soften the overall image quality.

It’s a heavier cotton, but like it very much will wear it in warm temps as well as colder. Was true to size and the small amt. of stretch makes it very comfortable. Shocked at the price,I purchased fully expecting a bit of dissatisfaction.

knocked 3 stars off because no shirt pocket

Two stars because there's no pocket. Shirt is actually nice otherwise but I was so focused on finding shirts with button-down collars (so my Sony WXB400 headphones don't escape) that I didn't notice these didn't have a pocket. I always carry a fountain pen so I need that, also for my phone if I'm not wearing cargo shorts with a "technology" pocket.
If pockets are important to you, this shirt should suffice. Price is right.
