Reproduction of Wild Grass I by Chris Paschke
Chris Paschke — "Wild Grass I" is a masterful example of contemporary minimalist botanical art, aligning with the tradition of Japanese ink wash painting (sumi-e) while transcending its cultural origins to become a universal statement on natural form. The work departs from traditional botanical illustration by eschewing meticulous detail in favor of expressive, gestural line work, creating a composition that is both abstract and deeply representational. The visual structure is defined by an asymmetrical balance, with the vertical lines of the grass stalks providing a strong focal axis against the vast negative space, which functions as an active element of the composition rather than mere background. This use of negative space evokes a sense of quietude and contemplation, drawing the viewer's eye to the subtle variations in ink density that suggest the weight and texture of the grass. The color palette, limited to the nuanced gradations of black ink on a cream ground, demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of tonal contrast and value, creating a visual experience that is both serene and visually compelling. Situated within the broader art-historical context of modernist abstraction and the global appreciation for Zen aesthetics, "Wild Grass I" functions as a meditative object, inviting reflection on the profound beauty inherent in the simplest forms of nature. Its interpretive significance lies in its ability to transform a common, overlooked subject into a symbol of resilience and quiet elegance, making it a powerful example of how minimalism can convey deep emotional and philosophical resonance. For more art by Chris Paschke click here.

returned- for now
Style: Updated Formula
I was using the lotion version of this for about a year, then went to the balm for more hydration. However, it seems to be breaking me out. I think because it's spring, im not needing as much occlusion as i did during winter. I'm gonna go back to the lotion formula, then pick this up again next winter.
It is a little hard to spread, but I spray the avene mineral water on, let it dry slightly, and press the balm into my skin when its still wet. That helps thin the balm just enough to rub in. Otherwise, it can actually feel kind of rough!

Impressive
Style: Updated Formula
Nice thick cream! I even saw results (skin improvement) within days. I like this way better than their Cicalfate+, as it’s easier to rub in, less greasy, and doesn’t have the water vs cream separation issue. I’m not a huge fan of the pump top for this one, but at least it’s a tube instead of a solid canister (where you can’t see how much is left or get to the last bit).
