UTI Relief for dogs and cats is an effective herbal blend that supports your animal's immune system and the health of their urinary tract*. This formula was developed by a certified Master Herbalist to support immune function and provide USDA organic herbs with antimicrobial, astringent and soothing benefits for dogs and cats suffering with urinary tract imbalances.

You can use UTI Relief to help support the body's efforts to maintain urinary tract health* or for 7 days or so every month so problems don't begin in the first place. It is important to recognize the symptoms of a urinary tract infection before it gets to the more serious stage, which is very often indicated by blood in the urine (you can also use pH test strips because a more alkaline pH than normal can indicate an infection is starting or present). This is because an infection at this later stage will most likely require the use of antibiotics. So, catching the infection early or using UTI Relief as a preventative are your best options.

You should make sure that you have a bottle of UTI Relief on hand so you can start this herbal remedy right away at the first sign of infection or, as I mentioned, to use monthly as a way to keep the urinary tract free of infection. This is very important because chronic infections and continual use of antibiotics will damage the lining of the urinary tract and bladder, and possibly even the kidneys. This occurs because after repeated infections the tissue will become spongy, for lack of a better term, and be more vulnerable to future infections.

About the Organic Herbs in this Formula

Echinacea Root - An immune system booster that increases macrophage T-cell activity that devours invaders and acts as the body's first line of defense. We use Echinacea angustifolia in our formulas as this species is believed to be the most effective in supporting the immune system out of the three species of echinacea used in herbal medicine.

Cat's Claw Bark - Contains powerful alkaloids that stimulate the immune response and act as antioxidants to rid the body of free radicals. Compounds found in Cat's Claw may also work to kill viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms that cause disease and may work to inhibit healthy cells from becoming cancerous.

Uva Ursi - Provides a specific antiseptic and astringent effect on the membranes that line the urinary tract. This herb also helps to tone and strengthen these tissues.

Couch Grass Rhizome - An herb with demulcent qualities that helps to soothe irritation in the urinary tract while providing a gentle cleansing action.

Marshmallow Root - A mucilaginous herb that provides a lubricating, protective barrier for mucous membranes that line the urinary tract.

Cranberry - Contains antioxidants and phytonutrients like oligomeric proanthocyanidins and anthocyanidin flavonoids that help prevent bacteria from adhering to the lining of the urinary tract.

Oregon Grape Root - Contains antimicrobial alkaloids that help inhibit bacteria, fungi, parasites and protozoa. Works well with echinacea to fight infections and ward off illness.

Provide 1 ml per 25 lbs 2 - 3 times per day. 

Important: We suggest mixing our liquid herbal remedies into a small amount of treat food (yogurt, apple sauce, banana, canned food…) or, next best, into their meals, rather than directly into your pet’s mouth that may unintentionally cause your pet to inhale the remedy. It is suggested to provide herbal remedies such as this 10 -15 minutes prior to the main meal when convenient for better absorption.

This formula should be used for generally no more than 10-14 days at a time because it could become irritating to the lining of the urinary tract.

In the future we suggest that you use the UTI Relief for one week per month to support the health of the urinary tract as it is always easier to head off an infection that it is to cure one.

Since this formula contains stronger astringents, like Uva ursi, to help eliminate infection, for long term use you should use our Kidney Tonic on a daily basis because it is gentle enough to use for the life of your animal to help maintain the health of the kidneys and urinary tract.

Since this is not a medication, dosages do not have to be exact. Do the best you can to get as close to the suggested dosage below as you can for your animal’s weight.

For serious acute conditions - It is recommended to provide three dosages per day. When your animal is doing better you may try reducing dosages to twice daily and see how they do with that schedule. This formula should be used for generally no more than 10-14 days at a time because it could become irritating to the lining of the urinary tract.

For chronic conditions - You may provide two to three times daily. If your animal does not respond to two dosages they will need three until they show improvement and then you may reduce to two dosages daily and see how they do. This formula should be used for generally no more than 10-14 days at a time because it could become irritating to the lining of the urinary tract. If you need to use it longer take a week break and begin the cycle again.

How long does it usually take for this herbal remedy to work?
Well, that is a difficult question to answer because each animal and his/her situation is unique. Sometimes benefits are seen immediately within a day or two and other times it may be a couple of weeks. We would say that you should see some sort of improvement within three to four weeks. If you don’t see improvement please contact us in case we can make other suggestions - perhaps there is a more appropriate remedy etc. Remember, these are not pharmaceutical drugs that have a dramatic affect on the body. What we are trying to accomplish with our herbal remedies and other supplements is to increase the health of weak organs/systems and this can take a little time to accomplish in some cases. Also, please keep in mind that diet and lifestyle play a huge role in the health of your animal(s). If you continue to feed a poor-quality kibble diet or provide repetitive booster vaccinations or use flea/tick chemical products, these will work against what we are trying to accomplish and make it more difficult to improve the health of your dog or cat.

What if my animal is not responding as hoped?
Then you may increase the dosage by 50% and see how that works. Dosage can then be reduced at a later date. If they still do not respond as hoped then please do not just give up, instead contact us by email so we can consider your animal's condition and make further suggestions. Our goal is to succeed and we will help you to the best of our abilities.

What if I have a large dog or I am on a budget?
We understand that providing a large animal with herbal remedies and natural supplements can be a financial burden to some. We would suggest to provide what is within your budget and see how that works. For example, if you have a 100 lb dog that would require 5 mls two to three times daily, figure what is within your budget and try that. It may only be 1 ml or 2 mls two times per day. However, in our experience this is preferable to avoiding the remedy entirely.

Do these herbal remedies have any contraindications?
A contraindication suggests that a particular remedy should not be used in certain health conditions or along with certain medications. If any are present they will be indicated at the bottom of this page under Contraindications.

Can I use this herbal remedy along with my pet’s medication(s)?
Generally, the answer to this question is “yes” with some caveats. As mentioned previously, if any contraindications are present they will be indicated at the bottom of this page. In addition, keep in mind that our herbal remedies often duplicate the actions of medications. For example, our heart tonic will help to dilate blood vessels and lower blood pressure mimicking the action of certain drugs used for heart failure or high blood pressure. If this is the case, then this should be discussed with your veterinarian as the dosage of the medication may need to be lowered or may even be eliminated entirely. This must be done working in coordination with your veterinarian - please do not take it upon yourself to remove your pet’s medications. If using chemotherapy drugs please discuss this with your vet as well.

What if my vet is not receptive to using natural supplements or herbal remedies?
Well, this is a fairly common occurrence unfortunately. The decision will have to be yours on how to handle this. Try discussing with your vet how important it is to you to try a more natural approach. If this doesn’t work and they are unreceptive then you have only two choices: do it their way or find a veterinarian that you can work with to better the health of your dog or cat. We know what we’d do!
