Nagaoka MP-300 MM Phono Cartridge

The Nagaoka MP-300 is a high-definition moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge that sits at the top of Nagaoka's acclaimed MP Series, one step below the flagship MP-500. Available at Vinyl Sound Toronto, Canada, the MP-300 delivers sophistication, refinement, and exceptional detail retrieval at every audible frequency — offering the musicality and precision that only Nagaoka's 80+ years of in-house stylus and cartridge manufacturing can produce. Nimble in the groove and effortless on the ears, the Nagaoka MP-300 is the kind of cartridge you keep reaching for.

What sets the MP-300 apart from the MP-110 and MP-200 is its hardened boron cantilever — the same ultra-lightweight, high-rigidity material used in the flagship MP-500 — combined with a naked elliptical diamond stylus with a superfine polish. Boron is stiffer than aluminium at a fraction of the mass, allowing the stylus to track groove modulations with greater speed and accuracy, reproducing transients, inner detail, and subtle dynamic nuance that softer cantilever materials simply cannot resolve. The result is a cartridge that is destined to become a classic from the moment it drops into the groove.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Nagaoka MP-300?

The Nagaoka MP-300 is a high-performance moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge from Japan's Nagaoka — a company with over 80 years of expertise in stylus and cartridge manufacturing. It features a hardened boron cantilever, a superfine polished naked elliptical diamond stylus, and a powerful samarium cobalt magnet, delivering high-definition sound across the full 20–25,000Hz frequency range. It is compatible with any turntable that accepts a standard MM cartridge.

What is the difference between the Nagaoka MP-300 and MP-200?

The key difference is the cantilever material. The Nagaoka MP-200 uses a high-strength aluminium alloy cantilever, while the MP-300 upgrades to a hardened boron cantilever — a stiffer, lighter material that tracks groove modulations more accurately and resolves finer detail. The MP-300 also features a naked diamond stylus with a more refined polish, resulting in improved transient response, inner detail, and dynamic contrast compared to the MP-200.

What is the difference between the Nagaoka MP-300 and MP-500?

Both the MP-300 and MP-500 use a boron cantilever, but the flagship MP-500 upgrades to a line-contact diamond stylus — a more refined tip geometry that contacts a larger portion of the groove wall, retrieving even more musical information and reducing record wear. The MP-300 uses an elliptical stylus, which is an excellent performer at its price point, while the MP-500 represents the ultimate expression of the MP Series.

Is the Nagaoka MP-300 compatible with my turntable?

Yes — the Nagaoka MP-300 is a standard moving magnet (MM) cartridge compatible with virtually all turntables that accept a standard half-inch mount headshell. It requires a phono stage with a 47kΩ MM input, which is standard on integrated amplifiers, receivers, and dedicated phono preamplifiers. Recommended tracking force is 1.3–1.8g, making it suitable for most standard tonearms.

What replacement stylus does the Nagaoka MP-300 use?

The Nagaoka MP-300 uses the Nagaoka JN-P300 replacement stylus, which can be swapped without tools by simply sliding the old stylus off and the new one on. Nagaoka recommends replacing the stylus every 150–200 hours of use under normal home listening conditions to maintain sound quality and protect your record grooves.

Does the Nagaoka MP-300 need a phono preamplifier?

Yes. The Nagaoka MP-300 is a moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge with an output voltage of 3.0mV. It requires a phono preamplifier with a standard MM input (47kΩ load resistance) to amplify and apply RIAA equalisation to the signal before it reaches your amplifier. Many integrated amplifiers and receivers include a built-in MM phono stage. If yours does not, a separate phono preamplifier is required.

I just knew there was something about Cooper! I’m wondering if he’s about to be included but damn I’m glad he’s at least not a rapist and creepy guy, he just got called on assignment and had to go! This should be interesting! She’s gonna run and then what’s his face is gonna grab her. I’m worried! Wow that was a great book and cliffhanger! Loving this!

Baby bumps and bodyguards
Format: Kindle
Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly tender, Not Ready is an omegaverse romance that delivers found family feels, fierce protectiveness, and a very pregnant heroine who refuses to break. Vale’s on the run from a stalker, but lands in the arms of three private security alphas, cue the swoony tension, fake marriage twist, and slow-burn heat. It’s a little gritty, a little soft, and a whole lot addictive. If you love protective alphas, high stakes, and heroines with quiet strength, this one’s a must-read.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.
