COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Keeping Children Safe & Healthy course. This program will equip you with the knowledge, practical strategies, and confidence required to protect children’s wellbeing, promote safe environments, and support healthy development in childcare, educational, and community settings. You will explore how to assess risks, respond to accidents and illness, communicate safety principles to children, and maintain your own physical and emotional wellbeing as a caregiver or childcare professional. This course also examines common childhood illnesses, injury-response procedures, and effective ways to involve parents and colleagues in supporting children’s safety and health.

This course begins by examining how to keep children safe, how to check for safety in everyday environments, and why disabled children do not benefit from overprotection. You will explore how to support children’s learning by promoting independence, self-awareness, and decision-making. This section explains who is responsible for children, how responsibility is handed over between adults, and how to perform a risk assessment for venues or activities. You will also examine how children learn, how to use conversations to highlight safety guidelines, and how to share and show children their rights to personal safety. This section concludes with the aim of supportive safety guidelines and how to help children learn about road safety through modelling, discussion, and supervised practice.

The next learning area focuses on responding to accidents and injuries. You will explore how to deal with accidents, how to cope with injuries, and how to treat common situations such as nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, falls, choking, burns, and scalds. This section explains how to place a child in the recovery position and outlines the importance of accurate accident/incident reporting in childcare settings. You will examine accidents, near misses, and problem areas that commonly arise in childcare environments, and how learning problem-solving skills supports both safety and resilience. This section also introduces the basic steps in effective problem solving to help children develop their own capacity for handling difficulties.

A further part of the program explores illness management and communication with families. You will learn the importance of speaking with parents about illness, how to decide if children are unwell, and what to do when children present with raised temperatures or stomach aches. This section explains when severe abdominal pain requires urgent response, and how to manage illness alongside emotional distress. You will explore symptoms and recommended actions for common childhood conditions including chicken pox, German measles (rubella), measles, mumps, hay fever, eczema, head lice, meningitis, and threadworms, along with appropriate treatments and communication practices.

The final learning area focuses on caregiver wellbeing and professional boundaries. You will explore how to take care of yourself, the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, and how to keep physically healthy by protecting your back from strain. This section examines considerations for pregnant childcare workers, why it is important to leave work-related concerns behind at the end of the day, and how to overcome the sadness that may arise when children move on to new settings.

By the end of this course you will be able to create safe environments for children, respond appropriately to accidents and illness, support children’s learning about safety, communicate effectively with families, and care for your own physical and emotional health while fulfilling your responsibilities as a childcare professional.

Works Very Well
Size: 120g 8.5" x 11"
I am new to sublimation printing, and purchased this based on recommendations from multiple websites. I'm so glad I did! It transfers well onto several mediums, including shirts, totes, mousepads and cups. I've never had any jams or misfeeds, and the quality of the paper is high. I'll definitely purchase again!

Great product right out of the box
Size: 24-Inch
My kid had it up and running in seconds. The display is good with zero problems or defects. The size of it allows her to game without having to squint at a small screen. This is a great value and now im expected to get one for my other kid.

This is great 24" computer monitor that has a port for everyone. Includes HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA. The monitor also includes speakers. The screen will tilt but is not height adjustable. The screen is easy to use and easy to setup. The color quality is fine and is good for a working environment. The monitor is also durable. No replacements yet and over 3 dozen purchased.

GOOD QUALITY with a GOOD PRICE to Match!
Size: 24-Inch, Size: 24-Inch
A LITTLE BACKGROUND: I had already owned two small monitors, 24" each, however recently I was rearranging some furniture in the room, of which both monitors were sitting on top of, and during the moving around one of the monitors fell off. Well one of the monitors became unreliable and so I started my hunt for a new one to replace it. NOW THE REVIEW: Right off the bat two things drew my interest in this 27" monitor. 1. The thin beveled edges for a larger usable screen area, and 2. Easier access to the buttons for configuring the monitor.(i.e. brightness, contrast, etc.). Coming in a VERY close second with #2 is the cost, $99.99($100). Looking at the cost of other monitors small than 27" was a lot more! So, 3 inches more screen area(than my previous monitors) and the features mentioned above for only a hundred dollars? ...OK! I had purchase two 32in VIEWSONIC monitors not too long ago for another computer, and I really like the monitors, HOWEVER, the one and only draw back with those two monitors is the location of the buttons for configuring the monitor is in a very bad location to easily access and use, on the backside of the monitor. I cannot see what button I am about to press! Hold on!!! Wait a minute you might be saying right now... You might be wondering, if not asking, what about the screen resolution, what are things on the screen looking like?? Well that is a great question and my answer to that is, as it said, "a picture is worth a thousand words"...or in this case, $99.99! I have attach a picture with this review so see for yourself. MY CONCLUSION: GOOD QUALITY with a GOOD PRICE to Match! I would like to add one more thing. After my wonderful experience with this Amazon Basics product, I am VERY impressed with this line/brand! This brand is as good as the "big name" brands(ViewSonic, Samsung, LG to name a few.) from what I have observed. I have taken a look to see if Amazon Basics makes a 32in monitor, so far I have not seen one in my searching. Keep up the great job Amazon Basics, I have been so impressed that I have been searching your brand now whenever I am shopping computer accessories. I have two, Amazon Basics USB A 3.0 hubs I purchased before I bought the monitors.
