From Jake Wilton: A clownfish hides amongst its host anemone as it struggles through a bleaching event. The spiral effect was created using a special reflective tube to capture the light to encourage the observer to reflect on the impacts we as a species are having on our environments.
It took a lot of patience and time to get the clownfish in frame but I am stoked with the results. The reflective light swirl draws the eye into a scene that is hauntingly beautiful and sad at the same time. I’ll never know if this little fish survived but I hope this image can draw attention to the fact that coral bleaching events are increasing at an alarming rate and we are at risk of losing ocean icons like this little “Nemo”.
