De Thonet B9 Bijzettafel, ontworpen door Marcel Breuer, is een zeer veelzijdig ontwerp dat beschikbaar is in vele variaties en als set. Tijdens zijn tijd aan het Bauhaus experimenteerde Marcel Breuer met de materialen staal en stalen buizen. Hij deed dit door de principes voor het maken van houten meubels toe te passen op dit nieuwe materiaal. De nabijheid van de machinefabrieken van Junkers in Dessau was hierbij zeer behulpzaam. Zijn eerste ontwerpen omvatten de B9 tafelset, verschillende wandplanken en bijmeubelen. De gehele collectie werd opgenomen in het 'invoegboek', de Thonet catalogus van 1930/31. De B9 set tafels werden geplaatst in de kantine van het Bauhaus-gebouw ontworpen door Walter Gropius. Tegenwoordig komen deze elegante ontwerpen tot hun recht in zowel woon- als projectinrichtingen.
