46ST Compact Above Deck Electric Full Stainless Winch Variable Speed - 24V

Andersen Compact Motor electric winches allow you to hoist and trim sails at the push of a button regardless of physical strength, so any crew member can easily and safely trim sails and control lines.

Ease of installation
The Andersen Compact Motor electric winch is available in two formats for either Above Deck or Below Deck motor placement. Motor gearbox and controller are integrated into one compact unit with no extra control box necessary. Simplified electrical installation requires just the connection of positive and negative power cables to the motor terminals and the connection of the push button using the included output cable.

Efficient, variable speed
The Andersen Compact Motor is a brushless DC motor carefully matched to a low profile planetary gearbox which requires less space for installation, and draws considerably less current than traditional motor/gearbox configurations. Available in 12 volt and 24 volt models, Compact Motor electric winches operate at variable speed in proportion to the pressure applied to the push button, for smooth and quiet operation.

Illuminated "intelligent" push button
Compact Motor winches are supplied with a push button with integrated LED which illuminates when power to the winch system is on. The push button incorporates a hinged safety cover to prevent inadvertent winch operation and is water resistant rated to IP67. The push button also acts with the controller to flash status codes that assist with trouble shooting in the event of overload or where other system protection intervention occurs. A cable for connection of the push button is included for convenient installation.

Built-in protection
- Integrated overload protection - The controller is pre-set to stop the winch if the maximum pull load is exceeded. Operation can resume within a few seconds when the load returns below the limit.
- Thermal overload protection - The motor is fitted with a thermal cutout that disables the motor in case of overheating; it automatically resets after the temperature returns to normal.

Important Information
Mounting of an Above Deck Compact Motor winch on a vertical surface is not recommended, as it increases exposure to potential problems of excessive moisture and water ingress which could lead to damage not covered by warranty. The motor/gearbox unit of any Above Deck Compact Motor Electric Winch is more exposed to the elements than a below deck installation which keeps the motor unit and gearbox more protected. It is important to take reasonable precautions to protect the unit from unnecessary exposure, and carry out regular seasonal maintenance including the lubrication of the motor shaft seal. This is just good seamanship. On commercial and military vessels, it is common to see exposed equipment with electric motors and gearboxes fitted with covers when not in use or to protect them from heavy spray, etc. Equipment on yachts deserves the same proper care.

Amazing detail and story
Format: Hardcover
We visited Chartwell in June 2023. I sure wish I had read this book prior to that visit. I was still able to scroll through my photographs and compare them with the book photos or comments. All in all the book is excellent. It manages to complete the story of Churchill in Exile and give the reader a glimpse of all the work he accomplished leading up to WWII. It also begs the question if given a leadership role earlier Churchill could have prevented the war in the first place. As someone who lost his uncle over France in 1943 that would have been nice. I highly recommend this book. A great man.

10/10 recommend
Format: Hardcover
Great book, especially if you're a fan on WWII or Winston Churchill! I never really dove into Churchill specifically before this book, but I was very impressed with how much influence he had leading up to the war, even when he wasn't a political official. It's also wild to think about how different things could have been if people took his warnings sooner. Overall I love the book and I think it's a very interesting read even if you're not that into history!

Churchill's "wilderness years" at Chartwell were perhaps the "important years" in preparing him.
Format: Hardcover
A brilliant idea for a new perspective on Churchill, and an even better execution. The author literally examines the guestbook over a ten-year period at Chartwell, Churchill's country home. Not only are the names of the guests fascinating, but the subjects of their discussions are eyebrow-raising in multitudes of ways. From Einstein to German spies, from politicians to celebrities, Churchill was not only busy maintaining connections he deemed useful, but his efforts to stay well-informed were Herculean. He did not hold an elected office during these "wilderness years," but he dictated volumes of books (no doubt improving his oratory skill), built brick walls, gardened, painted, and traveled like his life depended on it. It is fascinating to gain these new insights into the man. Depressed by his recent failure to be re-elected, he went to work instead of retiring. He imposed upon himself a strict diet of information protein, personal network building, philosophical expansion, and extraordinary production. All the visitors, discussions, and interactions ultimately resulted in the most fantastic preparation imaginable for a man destined to lead his country as Prime Minister during the greatest war the world has ever known. I found the book extremely well-written yet easy to read, finishing it in just two days.

Excellent pre WW2 Churchill primer.
Format: Hardcover
This author has done an excellent job of explaining the role Churchill played in preparing Britain for WW2 despite being out of government for most of the 1930’s. The author is a curator and historian who has managed the collections at Chartwell, Churchill’s home during that time. Very well researched and easy to read. Anyone who studies 20th Century European history needs to read this book.
