Artemis Botanical Pigments are finely ground plant-based colors derived from flowers, roots, berries, and leaves. Designed for artists ages 14 and up, these pigments are used to create handmade watercolor paints through a simple mixing process.
To prepare, grind the pigment with a small amount of Artemis Wax and Resin Emulsion and water to form a fluid watercolor. The result is a transparent, light-filled paint with subtle variation and depth unique to natural pigments.
Working with Natural Pigment
These pigments support a slower, more intentional painting process—mixing only what is needed and working directly with the material. Colors layer softly and interact in nuanced ways, offering a different experience from synthetic paints.
Well suited to watercolor techniques focused on transparency, glazing, and controlled layering.
Care and Usage
- Grind pigment with wax-resin emulsion and a small amount of water
- For best results use with a non-reactive mortar and pestle
- Mix small batches for best color clarity
- Reactivate dried paint with water
- Store opened jars and mixed paint in a cool place or refrigerator
