Fish oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly the essential fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). They influence the normal functioning of the nervous system and glucose concentration, which is extremely important for maintaining energy throughout the day [1]. Consumption of min. 2g of EPA and DHA per day contributes to lowering blood triglyceride levels. In addition, EPA and DHA have a beneficial effect on the number of heart beats per minute (pulse), platelet aggregation and endothelial function in blood vessels [2]. By affecting the composition of cell membrane phospholipids, EPA and DHA acids contribute to mediators that alleviate inflammation in the body [3]. It is suspected that omega-3 fatty acids may be important in maintaining optimal body weight and abdominal fat [4]. Being part of the brain and visual structure, DHA acids are involved in maintaining normal brain function and also contribute to optimal visual acuity. We can obtain these valuable components by consuming fish and seafood, including but not limited to: cod, salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, oysters, as well as providing them through the consumption of fish oil.

It contains a high concentration of essential fatty acids (DHA and EPA) in a highly digestible triglyceride form. One teaspoon per day (5 ml) provides up to 2900 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (including: 1450 mg EPA and 1000 mg DHA) for the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels.
