Building on the success of the standard versions of their Quark, Daystar Filters designed this version of the Camera Quark H-alpha Solar Filter to fit Nikon SLR and DLSR bodies and lenses to allow imaging or viewing chromosphere details. To fit your camera system, the each end is equipped with a corresponding bayonet mount for easy attachment, and full disk viewing possible on lenses up to ~450mm focal length. A rear 1.25" eyepiece adapter is included to allow the use of traditional astronomical eyepieces. This adapter essentially converts your lens into a solar telescope. Daystar recommends the use of red, orange or yellow colored glass lens front filters for apertures over 80mm.

The filter is tuned to the 0.5-0.3? bandwidth of the 656nm hydrogen-alpha wavelength with the ability to tune it ±0.5? from the center line for compensate for Doppler shift or to focus on specific regions or features, with indicators every 0.1?. The chromosphere's surface structure behaves differently in active regions than quiet areas, where magnetic field lines are stronger, so viewing this portion of the sun provides a constantly-changing observational experience. The filter is powered via a micro-USB port, and Daystar includes a power cord and an AC adapter to meet the high-power requirements of 5 VDC 1.5A. To enable its use at home and abroad, a set of international outlet plugs is provided with adapters for the US, UK, EU, and Australia.

The Camera Quark comes with a combination lens foot with 1/4-20 tripod holes to mount it on conventional photo/video/field tripods, and a Vixen-style dovetail plate for telescope mounts. While a focal extender spacer ring is included to ensure compatibility with a wide variety of lenses, focus and clearances are not guaranteed with all Nikon lenses. Because there is no electric pass-through on the filter, when installed between the camera body and lens, some lens features such as auto-focus and electronic aperture control will not work.

Filter Properties
  • Hydrogen-alpha bandpass
  • Integrated 12mm blocking filter
  • 21mm clear filter aperture
  • Tuned to 0.5-0.3? for viewing chromosphere details

  • Lens and optical coatings designed specifically for 656nm H-alpha wavelength
  • Two-element telecentric lens design keeps light waves parallel to flatten the field of view and reduce parallax as magnification increases

Great for Indy Comic and Zine Covers
Size: 11"X17"
I use both the 11x17 and 8.5x11 Koala Glossy Inkjet papers as cover stock for Night Phoenix Press mini comics and zines, most often as Kickstarter add-ons or promo items. For that role, they deliver. The gloss finish immediately gives even short-run projects a polished, professional look with the other side having a matte finish which I can flip over for sketch covers using the matte side for the exterior cover. Colors print vibrant, blacks are strong, and the surface takes ink evenly without streaking. The finish looks clean enough to pass for offset printing on both inkjet and laser printers. This paper is also great for comic covers because it can fold down the middle without splitting the gloss coating too much if at all. The 8.5x11.5 works just as well for minis, one-shot zines or inserts. Between the two sizes, I can cover nearly every indie project format I need. They have just enough weight to feel like a true cover while still running smoothly through an inkjet printer. These books are often handled by backers or used as handouts, so durability matters. The stock holds up, though glossy paper can pick up fingerprints or light scuffs if stacked loosely. Bagging finished copies or boxing them quickly solves that. For the cost, it’s a dependable option that makes Kickstarter rewards and promo zines look far more professional than plain paper covers. For creators producing indie comics, add-ons, or zines on a budget, this paper is one of the easiest ways to elevate presentation without driving up printing costs. -Nathyn Brendan Masters

Ausurion products protection
Asurion is a great company to insure your products whenever you purchase items from online businesses like, Amazon. I had a portable hot spot device ordering from Amazon with a 3-year protection plan, unfortunately, the device has accidentally fallen and refused to turn on, then I went on Asurion Online website and filled in a claim and waited for approval to take that device for repair, luckily, they do not haven’t repaired shop services near me, they just refunded the original item price to me by Amazon Gift cards without knowing it few days than expected. I highly recommend Asurion for your product insurance needs.
