About this print

I ka ʻōlelo nō ke ola; in language there is life. ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) carries the life and spirit of the Hawaiian people. It enables us to better understand our history and collective identity and helps us express ourselves through a Hawaiian world view.

Since 2013, February has been celebrated in Hawaiʻi as Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian language month, to acknowledge the progress made and encourage further efforts to renormalize ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. We are excited to release this print on the 10th anniversary of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi to join in the celebration and do our part to spotlight ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi in our community.

ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, like many other indigenous languages, was once at the brink of extinction due to population decline, colonization, and accompanying anti-Hawaiian policies and communal sentiment. For over 80 years, ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi instruction and education was removed from schools and young Hawaiians were generally discouraged from learning the language. Even within our own families, our kūpuna (elders) were influenced to believe it best for their children to not be taught Hawaiian. As a result, forty years ago, surveys found there to be less than 50 ʻōpio (youth) fluent in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi.

Thankfully, since then, new generations of Hawaiians have once again been taught and educated in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. The resurgence of ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, in tandem with many other cultural practices, has come to be known as the Hawaiian Renaissance. Today, more than 26,000 individuals identify as Hawaiian language speakers and thousands of students are learning ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi in public, charter, and private schools and universities across Hawaiʻi.

We hope this print inspires you to learn and speak Hawaiian with your keiki! E ola mau ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi! Long live the Hawaiian language!

MEET OUR ARTISAN: KALEIMAMO HAWAI'I

Kaleimamo Hawaiʻi, an ʻohana-owned business from Honolulu, brings Native Hawaiian culture to the forefront of sustainable parenting. Founded by Pōhai, Kaleimamo Hawaiʻi creates beautiful, reusable cloth diapers and accessories that celebrate Hawaiian heritage through vibrant, culturally inspired designs. Named after Pōhai’s daughter, “Kaleimamo” symbolizes a lei of yellow lehua blossoms and extends to all keiki, weaving connections between families worldwide in the spirit of protecting our honua (world) for future generations.

The journey began when Pōhai and her husband, ʻOlu, discovered the environmental impact of disposable diapers and sought a better way. Their commitment to eco-friendly diapering led them to cloth, and they soon found a passion for sharing this sustainable option with other families. By combining functionality with a deep respect for Hawaiian culture, Kaleimamo Hawaiʻi offers parents a meaningful, earth-conscious choice that also honors Hawaiian traditions and values.

Like the scent
Scent: Stone
I use this scent daily and the wife likes it. So why change when we travel. I bought these travel bottles and plan to refill as needed.

Fresh Scent Body Wash w/ Great Value and Gentle Clean
Scent: Fig, Scent: Fig
I tried this travel size Harry's Fig body wash and it has a clean, fresh scent that feels balanced and not overpowering. The fig fragrance has a mix of cedar and a light citrus note that lasts without being too strong, which makes it easy to use every day. The formula creates a thick lather and cleans well without drying out my skin. It leaves my skin feeling soft and comfortable instead of tight, so the effectiveness is solid for a gentle daily wash. The travel bottles are a good size for flights and the 3.4 ounce design fits easily in a carry on or gym bag. The caps stay closed in a toiletry kit and the bottles are sturdy enough that they do not leak. The six pack is also a good value for money since each bottle lasts longer than expected and it is convenient having several ready for trips, the gym or work. I also like that the formula is free of sulfates, parabens and dyes, which makes it a good option for sensitive skin. Overall it is a fresh smelling, effective and well priced body wash that works well for travel, the gym or daily use.

Perfect Travel Size Body Wash That Still Smells High-End
Scent: Redwood
These ended up being extremely convenient for travel, gym bags, and even keeping an extra bottle in the car or at work. The TSA-approved size is probably the biggest selling point because you can throw them straight into a carry-on without worrying about transferring products into tiny containers yourself. The Redwood scent smells really good too — clean, woodsy, and masculine without being overpowering. It has that slightly outdoorsy/cologne-style scent that feels more premium than a lot of basic men’s body washes. The scent lingers lightly after showering but isn’t too strong. I also like that the formula doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or stripped afterward. The fact that it’s free from parabens, sulfates, and dyes is a nice bonus, especially if you have more sensitive skin.

Smells more cedar-y than figgy
Scent: Fig
I am very picky about fragrance, but this scent is one that made the mark for me. The primary notes are cedar with a little spiced orange -- I didn't think the fig was super prominent. Seems a little woodsy, perfect for either men or women. You get six small travel size bottles, perfect for travel. The body wash performed like a typical soap, good lather for washing up. Averaging moisturizing. I didn't notice that the scent was particularly long lasting. Overall, a great effective product, good value. Would definitely purchase again.

Perfect for on-the-go
Scent: Wildlands, Scent: Wildlands
Have been using Henry's for a long time, and I love the scent of this! The smell lasts long throughout my workday without leaving a weird film over my sensitive skin. Very effective at long-lasting fragrance and has a nice, sudsy texture when applied. This travel pack is a great value for money, allowing me to have my own fragrance and body wash without having to make an extra stop when I inevitably forget my soap at home while traveling! Would recommend anyone who travels to grab these, especially if you haven't already tried this brand.
