Here we present an antique Single Shot Percussion Boot Pistol, made by Allen & Thurber, circa 1840-50 in Worcester, Massachusetts. This pistol was designed for close quarters self-defense in 19th Century America. It would have been the type of weapon that was stuck in the top of a boot or belt. This type was made from about 1840s to 1850s, the period of the American Civil War. Only a few thousand were produced.

This one is serial numbers “468” matching the rest of its parts. This pistol features a half-octagonal , half-round wedding ring transitional barrel 5 inches in length. It is marked “ALLEN & THURBER/WORCESTER/CAST STEEL”. 

The overall condition of this piece is very good. There is a dark patina throughout. Markings are clear. The numbers match. The walnut grips are in good condition. The bore is rifled. The action is strong.
