COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Workplace Hazard Identification & Control course. This program has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical techniques required to identify hazards, assess associated risks and implement effective controls to protect workers’ health and safety. You will explore the structured four-step risk management process, the full range of safety and health hazards encountered in workplaces, and the methods used to determine who may be harmed, how harm may occur and which control measures are necessary. This course also examines the hierarchy of control, the differences between safety and health risks and the systematic approaches that ensure workplaces minimise hazards and prevent injury or illness.

This course begins by examining the four-step process for managing risks and the types of safety and security hazards found in workplaces. You will explore how to identify hazards in vehicles, machinery, sharp tools and objects, and how to recognise heat hazards, electricity hazards, working at heights hazards, confined spaces hazards and hazards involving compressed air or LPG. This section also examines how to identify slips, trips and falls hazards, lifting and carrying hazards and repetitive strain injury hazards, as well as chemical hazards, personal safety hazards and travel hazards. You will explore how to assess safety risks by identifying who could be harmed, how to assess the severity of harm and the likelihood of injury, and how to determine the priorities for further action to reduce or eliminate risk. This section also examines the possible safety controls available and the required order of actions to establish effective and sufficient controls for safety hazards.

The next learning area focuses on recognising the full range of health hazards present in work environments. You will explore the types of health hazards that arise from manual handling and back strain, excessive noise, inadequate lighting, temperature extremes, poor air quality, exposure to micro-organisms and airborne contaminants, radiation sources, chemicals, hazardous materials and fibres. This section examines how to identify these health hazards accurately, who could be harmed by them and the methods for assessing their severity and likelihood. You will explore how ill-health may develop gradually or suddenly, how multiple exposures can compound risk and why early detection of health hazards is critical for prevention.

A further learning area examines health risk assessment and the selection of appropriate control measures. You will explore how to assess health risks using structured criteria, how to identify vulnerable individuals or groups and how to prioritise controls based on risk level. This section also examines the possible health controls that can reduce risk, including engineering measures, administrative controls, environmental improvements and the correct use of personal protective equipment. You will explore the required order of actions to follow when establishing effective control measures for health hazards and how the hierarchy of control shapes decisions about elimination, substitution, isolation, engineering controls, administrative controls and PPE.

The final learning area focuses on applying hazard identification and control systematically across all workplace tasks. You will explore how effective hazard identification contributes to safer planning, how regular inspections reveal underlying problems and how consultation with workers improves accuracy and awareness. This section reinforces that identifying hazards, assessing risks and applying controls is an ongoing cycle that ensures workplace safety is maintained, reviewed and continuously improved.

By the end of this course you will be able to identify safety and health hazards confidently, assess risks using structured methods, determine severity and likelihood accurately, select and implement effective control measures, follow the correct order of actions under the hierarchy of control and play an active role in maintaining a safe, healthy and well-managed workplace.

Gave my dog an allergic reaction
Color: Blue, Size: 4.5 Inch
I have one that has lasted 2 years of hard play, very durable. However, this newest one in the teal color gave my dog an allergic reaction. Her face and eyes swelled up within 1/2 of playing with it. So I threw it out. I have had no issues with the green one that I bought yesterday ago.

The best gift for new dog owners
Color: Blue, Size: 4.5 Inch
This has been my mom's go-to toy to gift to friends and family when they get a new dog. I just followed suit and bought one as a gift for my friend's Newfoundland puppy. Versatile, can be used as a ball or tug of war toy, and can buy a bigger size for a puppy to grow into because they can still grab it by the holes, unlike other balls and toys that are just too big to get their mouth around

My favorite sunscreen
Very easy to use and reapply, prevents sunburn effectively, and I love the way it makes my skin glow. I will say if you are using it properly, you will go through a bottle quickly so I recommend purchasing 2 right out the gate.
