Sumatran rhinos are the smallest of all living rhino species. They are covered with long coarse hair and are the closest living relative to the extinct Woolly rhino.

They are unfortunately Critically Endangered and there are less than 100 individuals left in the wild scattered across the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Threats include poaching for their horns and habitat destruction. Their very small and fragmented population makes natural recovery difficult.
