When used correctly, it allows you to influence your horse in a way that encourages better collection, more responsive reactions to your aids, and improved balance. This leads to more effective use of the back and helps your horse develop a soft, rounded head and neck carriage.The reins are placed loosely around the horse’s neck and can be used while riding with or without a bridle, during groundwork, or with a neck rope. Depending on your experience and level of training, you can also guide your horse without a bridle using only these reins. When used together with a bridle, the balance rein can be held as a second set of reins in one or both hands.

Poor durability
My 15lb dog destroyed this within a couple hours. He is small but a might chewer. Not chew proof. The end pieces came off easily which could be a choking hazard. He loved it, the idea is good, but it did not last. If you get it, supervise your dog, only allow for short "teeth brushing" chew time.
