About the Workshop:

In this class, we will begin by remembering the history of scrapbooks and photo albums and taking close looks at the styles of historical scrapbooks. We'll continue by discovering examples of artists’ books that serve as an archive, database, travelogue, moodboard, or memory book, and we’ll discuss the importance of maintaining a personal archives and touch on the history of scrapbooking and travelogues.

This course is taught using the Center for Book Arts Fine Art Collection and Reference Collection. We will take looks at many examples of artists'-books-as-archives and use those examples as inspiration for our own memory books.

During class, expect to reflect in writing and in small group discussion. There will be optional homework if you find that sort of prompt and structure helpful. Please note that in the second class we'll be discussing the books we made after class 1.

Required Materials:

  • Students will only need a computer and some sort of Word or Slide Show processor.
  • Recommended: InDesign or another graphic design software will be helpful but not necessary; paper, stapler, glue, needle/thread for creating a physical draft of a book.

Not happy.
It’s very wobbly. I followed all the instructions but it’s a flimsy and wobbly end table.

Great size. Its medium/small. Not cheap looking which is great. It has space for our phone charger, a drink and a small lamp. (The one in the photo is too big) My fiance put it together within an hour, the instructions were easy to understand. It does not wobble but we do have it on wood. Its not heavy so it does slide around.
