Palmgren's 8" x 18" manual surface grinder is an indispensable metalworking machine for toolrooms as well as production applications to produce high-quality close exacting tolerances and flat surfaces on workpieces. This fully flexible surface grinder is quite, efficient and is an excellent choice when grinding soft to hardened or annealed ferrous metals.
Features:
- Meehanite cast iron construction – stress relieved to minimize vibration while maximizing rigidity and accuracy
- High precision cartridge type spindle with lubricated for life multiple anti-friction bearings that are radially and axially pre-loaded for quiet vibration free operation and longer spindle life
- The spindle bearings are class 7 (P4) super precision angular contact ball bearings which have been accurately measured, selected and pre-loaded and then assembled in a temperature controlled room to assure stable noise free rotation
- Runout at the spindle nose taper is less than 0.000070” (0.0020mm) TIR
- Double V hand scraped and Turcite B coated way system on both the table longitudinal and cross feed, providing low operating friction, high vibration dampening and long wear capabilities
- Precision steel balls produce extremely smooth operation of the table along the ways
- Automatic lubrication system provides constant lubrication of critical wear areas
- Spindle and motor are a direct drive one piece design. The motor/spindle is dynamically balanced to attain a vibration displacement under 0.0006”/s (0.105mm)
