Cholla and Sahuaro (Saguaro) was created in 1928 by Gustave Baumann, an American artist who lived from 1881–1971. The original work was a woodcut measuring 12 3/4 inches square, done with 6 different color blocks. This piece is now in the collection of the New Mexico Museum of Art. Cholla, saguaro, and prickly pears fill this desert scene. The first study for this print was made in the Sonoran Desert near Florence, Arizona, on March 25, 1927.
