Three steeply stepped, sun-baked terraces on the southern bank of the Awatere River inspired the name of a farm – Triplebank.

NIn the more southern Awatere Valley, the soils are composed of three distinct layers: a thin semi-fertile soil, a middle layer of river stones and shingle, and all underpinned by an impervious mudstone layer that effectively prevents the roots of the vines from penetrating further and hence controls the vine’s vigour.

Now, this land produces pungent grapes that reflect the raw nature of Marlborough’s wildest valley with the vivid flavours captured in every bottle of Triplebank wine. Our winemaking philosophy is to capture and accentuate the essence of what has proved to be a distinctive winegrowing area.
