The MobileTrace and Hardened MobileTrace have a hot swappable battery feature enabling the user to change batteries while keeping the instrument operational. The main battery can be removed and replaced while the instrument continues to operate on an internal backup battery for approximately 3 mins.
This item should be used by appropriately trained personnel in accordance with the instructions provided in the instrument's user guide.
Rapiscan Systems recommends that you have at least two batteries for each instrument to ensure uninterrupted cord-free operation.

Do not use battery power to power the instrument on. This can significantly reduce the life of the battery. In addition, the power required to heat the instrument to its operating temperature takes nearly the entire capacity of the battery, leaving little to no power for operational use.
Use the internal battery only when the instrument is already at its operating temperature and is displaying the No Alarm-Ready message.
