The Delta Vienna Lounge Chair, designed by the Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune (CKR) for Arflex, is a striking reinterpretation of the classic Bentwood chair. The design honors traditional craftsmanship while infusing it with signature contemporary, clean geometry. The Delta Vienna Lounge Chair is a dialogue between two contrasting elements: the traditional, curved wooden frame and the modern, angular upholstery. The structure features a beautifully crafted curved wooden frame, reminiscent of classic Viennese chairs, which provides warmth and organic softness. The seat and backrest are defined by CKR’s precise, slightly trapezoidal, upholstered forms. These generously padded volumes offer superior comfort and a clean, sculptural contrast to the flowing curves of the wood. The tension between the rigid upholstered inserts and the natural, sinuous wooden frame is the chair's central aesthetic feature, elevating it to a complex design object.
