Silvia Vassileva — "Underwater Reflections III Crop". This work by Silvia Vassileva exemplifies a contemporary reimagining of landscape abstraction, where the artist transcends literal representation to evoke the sensory experience of water. Rooted in the tradition of abstract expressionism, Vassileva employs a fluid, painterly technique characterized by broad, gestural brushstrokes and a richly textured surface that suggests the tactile quality of moving water. The composition is built upon an asymmetric balance, with horizontal bands of color—ranging from deep cerulean to luminous seafoam green—evoking the layered depths of an ocean. The artist masterfully manipulates negative space, allowing the white of the canvas to function as both a physical element and a visual one, representing the play of light and the vastness of the aquatic environment. The color palette, dominated by cool tones with subtle warm undertones, is a study in tonal harmony and low contrast, creating a visually quiet yet deeply resonant effect. This approach aligns with the broader trends of contemporary abstract landscape painting, which often draws from impressionist and post-impressionist traditions of capturing light and atmosphere. The work's interpretive significance lies in its ability to convey a profound sense of tranquility and the subtle, ever-changing nature of the natural world, inviting the viewer into a state of contemplative observation. Vassileva's technique, with its visible impasto and layered application, celebrates the materiality of paint, grounding the ethereal subject in a tangible, sensory reality. For more art by Silvia Vassileva click here.

Love these!
Size: 9"
We use these quite often. I try to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible and not only are these the best value we have found for compostable plates, they are also more sturdy than traditional paper plates. I don't think I will ever go back to non compostable plates.

Better than paper plates
Size: 9"
Both convenient and sturdy...great for serving lunch and dinner...the smaller plates are great for dessert or breakfast (toast, muffins, quiche)
