We actually got the design inspiration from a Japanese hood scoop overlay. Working with overseas suppliers we have stumbled upon a lot of interesting products. A little vinyl in the right places can really make your vehicle stick out compared to any stock vehicle! Please note the design of this overlay. It runs parallel to the front of the hood scoop. It maintains even spacing and the reason for this will be clear during installation. For one, it is easier to install that way and two, it ultimately will look better this way. This material is durable and will last for years. I source the vinyl for these products from US suppliers. They are often made in the US or Europe. Material standards are high.

For the 3D Carbon material, do not apply wax. Just clean with normal soap and water. Please visit my store if you are looking for other 2015+ WRX / STI products or products for a different model.

When purchasing vinyl overlays, keep in mind that not all materials are created equally. I use premium vinyl which has high initial costs, but are the industry standards for high quality materials. Also made in the USA. - Dragon Wrap™ Carbon Fiber Films (3D Carbon) is a 5.6 mil calendered vinyl film featuring a clear repositionable permanent acrylic adhesive on an air-egress liner. This film has excellent dimensional stability, outstanding durability and outdoor performance. - This repositionable permanent adhesive offers minimal initial bond growing to permanent bonds that facilitates application of large graphics. The air egress liner also aids in large graphic application. - Minimum application temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. - Up to 5 year durability outdoors. Rated EXCELLENT for WATER RESISTANCE, HUMIDITY RESISTANCE, and SOLVENT RESISTANCE.

Semi Gloss Black is US sourced Avery brand and Matte Black is from Orafol which is a German company.

INSTALLATION

Clean the surface of the hood. The easiest way to apply this is to wet the back of the vinyl. You can even use a little soap. This will allow you to slide the vinyl around, but will require the use of heat to really make it stick. This method is highly recommended.  Our pre-mixed StickerFab Fluid works THE BEST.   Using heat from a hair dryer or heat gun will be essential. Just make sure you use small amounts of heat and work you way up. If it would burn you, it will probably burn the material.

Start at the very back of the hood scoop. Center the overlay up on the hood scoop and start pushing out all the water / soap with your fingers. Do not use a squeegee or anything else that could potentially scratch the material. Continue until you reach the corners. Should anything come up in the few hours after install, just use heat immediately to press it down. Over time the bond becomes stronger and the water you used will evaporate completely.

The DIY install will leave you proud of the work you've done. A great conversation piece as others will probably want to know how you did it all.
