The 15 liturgical poems (piyyutim) attributed to Yosse ben Yosse are presented in this book as an invitation to study this unique body of work, both in its original Hebrew and now, for the first time, in English as well.

Set against the historical upheavals of fifth-century Jewish Palestine, these works are an important addition to existing historical records that have survived from late antiquity. Yosse ben Yosse, a distinctive priestly voice, contested rabbinic claims to authority. The similarities and differences between Yosse ben Yosse's narrative and the corresponding rabbinic narratives are instructive. They help describe the socio-political power relations between the priestly caste and the rabbis, and to glean some information regarding the rise of rabbinic Judaism. Rabbinic texts re-imagined the Yom Kippur temple rites as a site for the political validation of rabbinic authority over the priestly caste, seeking to cement rabbinic claims to henceforth be the uncontested authority in Jewish life. Yosse ben Yosse's narrative, on the other hand, focused on the re-enactment of Temple Avodah, with an eye to the restoration of the priestly authority over Jewish practice in the post-destruction era.

The power contest between the revolutionary rabbinic movement and the conservative priestly caste discloses new aspects of the cultural and religious diversity of Jewish responses to the destruction of the Second Temple, when Jews were redefining their political allegiances and religious loyalties in late antiquity. The study thus contributes to our understanding of Jewish religious and political developments that took place in late antique Palestine.

Bought these protectors for shipping rare cards I sell online. They do NOT snap together! for my purposes I use a little tape to hold it closed so the buyer gets an undamaged card in the mail. works perfectly for my use.

Great slab!
Item Package Quantity: 2, Item Package Quantity: 2
These slabs are excellent but yes they don't clip together The top and bottom piece are not made to snap together. My solution was to slide the slab into a tightly fitting slab sleeve and boom, a perfect alternative to a graded card. We even made a custom label for a gift for grandpa.

Garbage, these don't close properly
Item Package Quantity: 2
These are defective. They don't close seal properly whatsoever. If you intend the handle the card, move it around at all, these will damage your nice cards. Do not buy if quality and protection is what you need.

Great Value - Use the right adhesive and they are crystal clear
Item Package Quantity: 48
These are generally pretty good. Some have rough edges from the mold, but there's not too many in the pack that are like that. Each come shipped in a bag. DO NOT USE GORILLA GLUE IMPACT TOUGH SUPER GLUE to seal these. They cloud the plastic. I used JB WELD LIGHT ACTIVATED and it worked perfectly. Model glue probably works too, but I haven't tried that yet. Less is more.

Great Cases for Cards
Item Package Quantity: 12, Item Package Quantity: 12
These were great for what I wanted them for. I like the look of having a card slabbed with a label but sending to the big grading companies is expensive. I was able to Slab wrestling cards, and sports cards. I even did one of my garbage pail kids. These are not designed to just snap together and do require some plastic adhesive or glue. Not a bad price for what I needed them for.
