The Gourd was initially used as a container for storing water and Medicinal Liquids and Elixirs, and it is believed to have been one of the first vessels used by humans. In Chinese Folklore, the Bottle Gourd is associated with Good Luck and Fortune, and it is often depicted as a Symbol of Longevity and Prosperity. - The gourd is popular as a charm to Ward Off Evil Spirits and Disease because its first character (Hu Lu 葫芦) has the same pronunciation as the word to "Protect" or "Guard" (hu 护) and also the word for "Blessing" (hu 祜). The Chinese word for Gourd, Hulu (葫芦), has other auspicious associations with Longevity and Excellent Health.

This would have been great if an editor worked on it first
Format: Hardcover
As much as I admire Dr. Johnson and her work, the writing is not good in this book. The ideas are very useful but the reader must slog through complex, turgid sentences and multiple grammatical errors to get the points. I wish more writers had good editing and didn’t submit such poor writing for publication. Dr. Johnson is not alone in this criticism. I think many writers have been trained to write circuitous sentences and that results in the reader working unnecessarily hard to grasp the meaning of the ideas.
That said, I am very impressed by her use of research that supports her writing and the ideas she presents. I hope that future publications are more carefully edited before they are published, with the reader in mind. And if you wonder if I am uneducated, rest assured that I have a doctorate in clinical psychology and 20 years post license experience.

This book I feel really gives a great understanding of key topics and points that would potentially be on the exam. Although vague for some folks, potentially, they would be things to know and keep in mind when considering to cost of such an exam.
