• "The Penitent Thief", also known as the "Good Thief" is one of two persons mentioned in a version of the Crucifixion of Jesus in the New Testament. In the accounts in the Gospel of Mark and Gospel of Matthew, these two join the crowd in mocking Jesus. The Gospel of Luke describes one asking Jesus to "remember him" when Jesus will have "come into" His kingdom. The other, as the Impenitent Thief, asks Jesus why he cannot save himself?
• One of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying, "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us."
• The other thief, rebuking him, said in reply, "Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation? And indeed, we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing criminal." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into Your Kingdom." 
• Jesus is said to have replied to him, "Amen, I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise."
• He is given the name Dismas in the Gospel of Nicodemus and is traditionally known in Catholicism as "Saint Dismas"  and Portuguese, Dimas.
