In May, composer, musician, and producer Kara-Lis Coverdale released her first new album in eight years, From Where You Came. It was followed by her second album of 2025, A Series of Actions in a Sphere of Forever, in September. Today, Coverdale details her third full-length release of the year, Changes In Air, out 21 November via Smalltown Supersound, and unveils its lead single ‘Curve Traces of Held Space’.

Changes In Air is a work for electric organ, modular synthesis, and piano in five sections. The album was adapted from a work originally written for installation at Skarven in Oslo, a floating sauna facing the expansive fjord which is heated by wood fire and solar radiation. Five “materials” influence the album's arrangements: wood, water, sun, glass, and metal. Coverdale composed, played, and recorded Changes In Air alone in Marquette, Manitoba in 2019 and completed it this year.

Known for her musical innovations at the intersection of experimental electronics and minimalist traditions, Coverdale’s releases have garnered acclaim for their deep exploration of timbre. This year’s trilogy of albums released by Smalltown Supersound are Coverdale’s first major new works since Grafts (2017), Aftertouches (2015, Sacred Phrases), and A 480 (2014, Constellation Tatsu).

Coverdale has performed concert halls, clubs, and festivals throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia headlining and touring with Big Thief, Caribou, Gagaku Ensemble and Floating Points (including as a part of his Promises ensemble at The Hollywood Bowl in LA). She has previously collaborated with with Actress, Yasuaki Shimizu, Caterina Barbieri and Lyra Pramuk and has created compositions for film, theatre, dance, symphonic instrumentation, and installation, including Cello Octet Amsterdam, Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Vanemuine Theatre, NYC Contemporaneous Ensemble and Ludens Choir with pipe organ a connective tissue throughout much of her work.

“Quiet ecstasy from a composer without boundaries”
- 4/5 The Guardian ‘Experimental Album of the Month’

“An emotional tapestry of lush organic instrumentation and synthetic drones, touching on the beauty in grief and the grief in beauty” - RA ‘Recommends’

Best Frother Ever!
Color: Black
Great little frother and very powerful after just one charge. I haven’t charged it since the first day and it is still going strong after 3 weeks. I use it daily for coffee froth, but have used it for mixing other things as well. It works great on mixing drink powders into water and for making salad dressing from scratch. It’s one of the best things I’ve purchased on Amazon for kitchen tools. My old frother ate through batteries and was 1/10th as powerful. This one really is amazing. Great quality heavy duty but still small machine. Extra attachment heads are also a bonus.

Very good frother that gets the job done extreamly well
Color: White
I hvae used this frother primarily for smoothies and coffees. Each time, it does a wonderful job. Deducted a star for the location of the speed control which is ontop of the device. It's akward to use one handed while attempting to control the speed, athough it's advertised as making it easier. It's not!

Good quality
Color: Black
Have used the frother 5 days in a row. It comes already charged. Fingers crossed no issues when I eventually have to charge it. I love everything about it. It’s worth a little bit of extra money as you can control the blending power from slow to fast. Easily held with both hands to coordinate. Today for a change I elected to just add a touch of bourbon caramel syrup to my oat milk -an excellent choice! They give you two attachments which is helpful. I’m not hard on my kitchen appliances but it’s good to know I have an immediate back up if needed. I rinse frother attachment out immediately in a cup of warm water and air dry on a towel. At this point, I highly recommend. My next adventure in the kitchen will be Matcha tea. I will use the bamboo whisk for the actual tea. If I decide to add oat milk to the top,(such as for a cold latte) I will use this frother.

Higher quality then I expect, very satisfied
Color: Gray
High quality overall, very high powered. It looks really fancy and elegant. The adjustable speed knob on the top is really great. The stand looks really nice but isn't the best design because it is easy to knock over when you take it out, that's my only issue with it.

Mixes my protein shake powder
Color: Blue
My husband and I both drink protein shakes daily. We have vortex mixers that work great, but they are plastic and getting old, and really needed to be replaced. In an effort to reduce microplastics in our lives, I am trying to use less plastic mixing cups. I couldn't find anything small enough (other than regular blenders) with glass and metal parts that would work well for us. During my search on here, several frothers showed up. This one caught my eye because of the amount of sales, quick delivery, and of course, decent pricing. Some of the reviews had me a little skeptical, and time will tell regarding the longevity, but so far I am pleased. My protein powders are on the heavy side, but this little frother really gets the job done. Instead of having to use separate mixing cups (saving me on dishwashing), I just use my morning coffee cup (it's big enough) to mix my protein shake in. My husband just uses a regular glass. Neither of us can believe the power this little thing has. We are getting smooth shakes! Here is what I really like about it: It is powerful and mixes well; the frother is metal and not plastic; it cleans extremely easy; after making several shakes the battery has not died; can be used in glasses, coffee cups, even disposable cups (when we buy donut shop coffee); and I love the little stand which takes up barely any counter space. Less plastic, less clean-up, dependable (so far), and small, making it convenient even for travel. I'm really glad I got this, and hope it will last. One last thing, do not turn it on while cleaning under running water. (Yes, you can laugh.)
