WHAT IS SELANK?

Selank belongs to a class of molecules called synthetic peptides. It was developed by combining a peptide called tuftsin with another sequence that improves its molecular stability. Tuftsin is naturally involved in immune function and forms part of the natural antibody IgG.

Selank was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in cooperation with the V.V. Zakusov Research Institute of Pharmacology (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences) along with the nootropic drug Semax, sometimes referred to as its "cousin" peptide.

Selank has been approved in Russia for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and as a nootropic. In clinical trials, Selank has shown to provide a sustained nootropic and anxiolytic effect, which is useful for treating GAD.

HOW DO YOU USE SELANK?

Selank is used as a nasal spray. When taken orally, it is digested by the stomach and less effective. Inhaling it allows it to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream and reach the brain more effectively.

The typical dosage is one spray in each nostril daily.

RESEARCH & CLINICAL TRIALS

Clinical trials have shown that Selank provides a sustained nootropic and anxiolytic effect, which is useful for treating generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Unlike traditional anxiety treatments like benzodiazepines, Selank has no sedating or cognitive side effects and does not cause addiction or withdrawal issues.
