COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Advanced Study Skills & Techniques course. This program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to study more efficiently, retain information for longer, and produce higher-quality work under real-world time pressures and assessment conditions. Throughout this course, you will learn how to select and adapt proven learning strategies so that your study time becomes more focused, organised, and effective.

This course begins by exploring why study skills are important and how they influence long-term academic and professional success. This section explains the different types of study you might undertake, the reasons we study in the first place, and the main ways to improve learning skills so that effort is directed where it has the greatest impact.

Understanding how learning actually happens is then examined so that you can tailor strategies to the way your brain works. This section explains how we learn, introduces the VAK learning styles model, and outlines specific study skill options for visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic learners so that you can start matching methods to your preferred ways of processing information.

Memory tools and encoding strategies are then explored to help you retain and recall information more reliably. This section clarifies the differences between acrostics, acronyms, analogies, and mnemonics, and sets out the three fundamental principles that underlie effective mnemonic techniques so you can build stronger memory hooks for complex material.

Reading and comprehension strategies are then examined to transform how you handle study materials. This section explains how to read materials when studying, how to improve your reading speed without losing comprehension, and how to use different reading styles—including speed reading, skim reading, and scanning—so that you can adjust your approach depending on your purpose and the difficulty of the text.

Information reduction and organisation techniques are then explored to turn large volumes of content into manageable, meaningful structures. This section explains condensing and summarising methods, the use of keywords, and visual structuring tools such as the tree structure technique, spider diagrams, mind maps, concept maps, and cue methods so that important ideas are captured and linked in ways that are easier to review.

Note-making and consolidation methods are then examined to strengthen understanding after initial reading. This section explains how to take effective notes, how to use the “Rewriting Your Notes” method to deepen processing, and how to apply structured systems such as the skeleton prose technique and the Cornell note-taking system so that your notes become powerful revision and thinking tools rather than raw transcripts.

Book-based study frameworks and planning techniques are then explored to give you repeatable processes for working through written material. This section explains how to study from books using the PQRST technique and the SQ3R technique, how to develop a SQ3R plan that fits your workload, and how to prioritise what you study using tools such as the Traffic Light approach and other visual methods so that your time is spent on the most critical topics.

Memory enhancement methods and multi-sensory study strategies are then examined to strengthen recall and engagement. This section explains how to use the Method of Loci, the Peg/Hook system, and other visual approaches, and how to incorporate auditory methods and a pre-recording checklist so that you can listen back to key material and reinforce learning through multiple channels.

Question analysis, written response frameworks, and integrated study strategies are then brought together to improve your performance in assignments and exams. This section explains how to break down and answer questions systematically, how to use the Black-Red-Green method and its stages, the PEE method and its stages, and the Seven Point Scale for Perfect Paragraphs method to structure high-quality responses, and how the ASPIRE Study Strategy method can be used to integrate planning, action, reflection, and improvement across all of your study activities. By the end of this course, you will be able to choose and combine advanced study techniques, organise your time and materials more effectively, and approach learning tasks with a clear, confident strategy that consistently improves your results.

good spray, but strong alcohol smell
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I like Alba Botanica, but 3.5 starts since: - the spray goes way too fast (that can be true for all continuous sprays). I used it 4 - 5 times and it seems I have very little left. - lots of waste when spraying... probably is best to spray your palm and then massage it on your body - once it's sprayed it smells like alcohol, alot!!! Other brands I tried don't seem to smell so much of alcohol. - My kid developed strange rash once it was applied, not red dots, but white bumps all over the arms and legs, cannot say its from this spray, but I'm a bit suspicious. The good party it's it is not sticky or greasy. Smells good (after alcohol evaporates). I used it a couple of times, applied once only and stay several hours under the sun and I was fine, no sunburn.

Alba packaging stinks
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Complete waste of money! I ended up tossing it out because it’s IMPOSSIBLE to use. You should be able to twist the top to lock/unlock and spray it. NOPE. The top just spins and doesn’t catch or you cannot twist it at all. It’s also virtually impossible to spray. I had to hold it against my torso and press with both thumbs to get it to spray. Meanwhile, it’s leaking, the bottle is getting slippery. And then the spray goes EVERYWHERE, it’s not a narrow spray but it’s as if you’re dusting crops. I tried to see if it needed a certain pressure point, two fingers, bloody hell it’s not a Magic Mouse you should be able to unlock and spray it with one hand. Anyway, Alba needs to do some QC on their packaging. The last pump lotion I got, the pump also did not work. It just spun and spun and could not be unlocked. I had to wash and reuse the pump from an old bottle.

Best sunscreen brand! Fair, sensitive-skinned and rely on this
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Alba Botanica is my favorite brand for sunscreen products and it checks all the boxes on my list: Excellent long lasting coverage, fine mist spray and easy coverage cream versions, great for my sensitive skin (no breakouts- I do NOT use it on my face though), the Hawaiian fragrance is pleasant, it’s reef safe (a big one for me as a snorkel/dive aficionado), and organic ingredients. The large size lasts 5 full days when on a boat all day in the Carribbean, and I only apply it twice (once in morning, and again midday.) I have fair skin, and I never burn. The spray version is, by nature of its aerosol capacity, a bit drying on the skin, but this is to be expected, and it creates a long lasting barrier. The cream version is a wonderful emollient, although not quite as long lasting. Best deal is only in the summer season at CostCo for a 2 pack... in my searches, Amazon has the best deal otherwise.
