I had painted small broken hearts all over the canvas along with another image. This painting has a cool background story. I originally was painting something else, before I left to go back home to my country , Guatemala. I had painted small broken hearts all over the canvas along with another image. While I was home in my country, I was so inspired by the beautiful flowers in my country one of them being the Birds Of Paradise flower. After a month and a half away , I painted over the original painting, but the broken hearts were sticking out. I repainted it all black. I stepped away from it for about a week and dreamed of a broken heart, with the number 1 in the middle. Each color of each piece of the broken heart has the different shades of human pigment skin tones
The number 1 in red represents our blood. The 1 blood is dripping down to new life. This is where life is born, the Bird Of Paradise flower. As humans we have to realize we are as equally connected to one another as we are to animals, and mother earth. We are one not matter how much society wants to divide us, we really are 1.
