This encaustic hotplate attachment converts the Encaustic Art Painting Iron into a heated palette surface for melting, mixing, and painting with encaustic wax. Designed for use with the Encaustic Art Iron (sold separately), it creates a warm working surface for encaustic brushwork, color blending, layered textures, and direct wax painting.

Made from durable anodized aluminum for even heat distribution, this compact hotplate brings added versatility to encaustic work without taking up much studio space. Use it as a heated palette for brush painting, pull cards through flowing wax color, or build luminous encaustic layers directly on the warm surface.

Please Note

This hotplate requires the Encaustic Art Painting Iron to generate heat. The iron is sold separately.

How It Works

Simply clamp the Encaustic Art Iron beneath the aluminum plate. Heat transfers from the iron into the hotplate surface, warming it to an ideal temperature for encaustic painting techniques—no separate electrical cord or heating element required.

Studio Tip

When working directly on the warm hotplate surface, painting cards may need to be lightly secured so they do not shift while wax is being moved or brushed. Many artists use a small amount of clear wax from our transparent wax blocks across the top of the hotplate under the card or a strip of heat-resistant tape to hold the card in place. A metal clip may also be used, though it can sometimes get in the way of brushwork or allow the card to slip.
