A 5-inch triplet APO refractor has traditionally been a $3,000+ investment — putting premium refractor performance out of reach for observers who want serious aperture without serious chromatic aberration. The Explore Scientific ED127 Essential Series delivers 127mm of true apochromatic optics at a price point that makes triplet refractor performance accessible to serious observers and astrophotographers who would otherwise need to compromise on aperture or glass quality.

Key Features
  • 127mm HOYA FCD1 ED glass triplet — air-spaced apochromatic design with EMD enhanced multi-layer coatings virtually eliminates chromatic aberration for true-color views of planets, double stars, and deep-sky objects
  • Dual-speed 2" rack-and-pinion focuser — 10:1 fine-focus ratio with heavy-duty locks prevents drift under heavy imaging payloads; drawtube marked in cm and 1mm increments for repeatable focus positions
  • Adjustable front lens cell — push-pull collimation screws allow precise optical alignment for pinpoint stars, a feature rarely found at this price point
  • 0.91 arcsecond resolution — resolves tight double stars, Jupiter's cloud belt detail, and Saturn's Cassini Division at the theoretical limit for 127mm
  • Retractable dew shield — shortens tube from 41.75" to 33.25" for compact transport without removing any components
  • Vixen-style dovetail and cradle rings — universally compatible with most equatorial mounts; integrated handle doubles as a 1/4"-20 DSLR piggyback mount for wide-field imaging alongside your main camera
  • Two 2" drawtube extensions included — adjust backfocus distance for compatibility with a wide range of eyepieces and camera setups

Ideal For
  • Intermediate astrophotographers upgrading from an achromat or reflector — the ED127 eliminates the false color and diffraction spikes that compromise long-exposure images, and the locked dual-speed focuser holds critical focus through multi-hour sessions
  • Visual observers who want a refractor that shows planets and double stars with textbook-sharp Airy discs and clean color — the adjustable collimation lets you dial in perfect star shapes
  • Portable setups — at 18 lbs the OTA pairs well with mid-range mounts like the Explore Scientific EXOS2-GT PMC-Eight and the retractable dew shield makes it easy to fit in the Explore Scientific Soft-Sided Case

Accessories & Compatibility

The ED127 ships with a 99% reflective 2" dielectric star diagonal, a hybrid 2N1 finder scope base (finder sold separately), dual split cradle rings with Vixen-style dovetail, retractable dew shield with dust covers, and two 2" drawtube extensions for backfocus adjustment.

For astrophotography, pair with the Explore Scientific 3" Field Flattener / 0.7x Focal Reducer to flatten the field across your sensor and reduce the effective focal ratio to f/5.25 for faster imaging. Add an 8x50 Illuminated Right Angle Finder for comfortable target acquisition without straining your neck.

Paws the vote is in and it got three out of three
Three puppies voted paws up for taste and a little bit of longevity. Now as for value for money. I know how much better than rawhide treats. But I’d like to see the price come down and more chewy’s inside the bag

So so small! Not worth $
The images in Amazon are nothing like what the product is. The pretzels and rings are minuscule. My two pit/lab mixes will eat one in about 30 seconds. So disappointment. Not worth the $ for what you’re getting. I tried to return items which are individually wrapped but they do not allow returns on these products. I have not opened any of them and still not able to return. If you have a dog under 15lbs these may work! If you have a large breed don’t bother. I’m so disappointed. Pictures above is the product next to a small milk bone biscuit (for reference).

A Premium Magnesium Powder From A Brand I Actually Trust
Thorne has a strong reputation in the supplement world, and this Magnesium Citrate powder is a good example of why. Magnesium is one of those basic minerals that does more than people realize. It supports normal muscle and nerve function, helps with energy production, contributes to bone health, and plays a role in cardiovascular function. The NIH notes that magnesium is involved in hundreds of enzyme systems in the body, including processes tied to muscle and nerve function, blood glucose control, blood pressure regulation, and bone development. (Office of Dietary Supplements) Magnesium citrate in particular is a form many people use because it is generally well absorbed and can also help with occasional constipation. That is both a benefit and something to respect. If you take too much, it can move from “helpful” to “where is the nearest bathroom” fairly quickly. I would start modestly and see how your body responds. The citrus berry flavor is pleasant enough for a mineral powder. It is not candy, and it does not need to be. It mixes reasonably well and is easy to work into a nightly routine or use when you feel like your muscles are tight, your diet has been less than ideal, or you simply want magnesium without swallowing another capsule. The biggest selling point for me is the brand. Thorne is not some mystery-label supplement company with a pretty bottle and a warehouse address nobody wants to talk about. Thorne says its facility is NSF certified, it manufactures more than 40 NSF Certified for Sport products, and it is used by professional and national sports organizations. (Thorne) Their Magnesium Citrate product page also states that the product is third-party tested and certified to verify what is in the package. (Thorne) That matters with supplements. You are not just buying magnesium. You are buying confidence that the dosage, purity, and manufacturing standards are being taken seriously. Thorne usually costs more than bargain brands, but with supplements, cheap is not always the victory it looks like on the front end. Overall, this is a high-quality magnesium option from a brand with real credibility. I like it for muscle support, general wellness, bone and heart-health support, and occasional regularity. Just treat it like a supplement, not a snack, especially if you are sensitive to magnesium or already taking other products that contain it.
