This exclusive release celebrates the band's raw energy and pivotal role in the vibrant 1980s Seattle metal scene, while honoring the memory of founding vocalist Jeffery Dean Hurd, who tragically passed away in 2020. Formed in 1982 in Burien, Washington, SATO emerged when a group of high school friends united to chase their musical dreams. Inspired by heavy metal and hard rock giants like UFO, Scorpions, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, they saw these bands as the pinnacle of achievement. SATO's passion and drive fueled their rise in a competitive scene known for it's electrifying performances and relentless energy. The band's name, spontaneously derived from the Ozzy Osbourne song during preparations for their debut gig at Seattle's Showbox, became a hallmark of their unpolished, authentic spirit. That first show, marked by an exploding fog machine, set the stage for SATO's reputation for frenzied and captivating live performances. This vinyl release features SATO's definitive recordings from Triad Studios, engineered by renowned producer Tom Hall, known for his work with Heir Apparent, Queensrÿche, and Overlord. Tracks like Halloween, the band's first original composition, and Leather Warrior highlight their electrifying sound. Remastered for this release, these songs ensure SATO's legacy resonates with crystal-clear intensity. SATO's journey was filled with unforgettable moments, from a near-deal with Atlantic Records to navigating member changes.
