Installation Guide

Follow these steps for proper installation of your maintenance kit components:

  1. Preparation: Disconnect the battery and allow the engine to cool completely. Gather all necessary tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, and a drain pan.
  2. Drain Fluids: Remove the lower unit drain plugs using new drain gaskets (830749) and drain all gear oil into a suitable container.
  3. Remove Water Pump Housing: Disconnect the water tube and remove the housing bolts. Carefully remove the old water pump housing (817275A1).
  4. Replace Impeller: Remove the old impeller and install the new impeller (47-43026Q02) with the key (28-8M0032833), ensuring blades face the correct direction.
  5. Install New Seals: Replace all seals (26-8M2014338 and 2210) and gaskets (27-8172771) on the pump housing and plates. Apply marine grease to seals during installation.
  6. Install Plates and Water Tube: Position the new plates (8172761 and 27-8M0142616) with fresh gaskets, then install the water tube (8M003623).
  7. Reassemble Water Pump: Reinstall the water pump housing with new gaskets, tightening bolts in a crisscross pattern to manufacturer torque specifications.
  8. Replace Thermostat: Locate the thermostat housing, remove the old thermostat, and install the new one (892864T06) with proper orientation.
  9. Change Fuel Filter: Replace the fuel filter (35-879885Q) following proper fuel line disconnection procedures. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
  10. Change Oil Filter: Remove and replace the oil filter (35-877761K01) using the new drain gasket (8M007119).
  11. Refill Gear Oil: Use the gear oil pump (24OP149) to refill the lower unit with manufacturer-recommended gear oil until it flows from the upper vent hole. Install drain plugs with new gaskets.
  12. Final Check: Reconnect the battery, run the engine, and check for proper water flow from the telltale. Inspect all areas for leaks before operating at full throttle.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: How do I confirm this maintenance kit fits my Mercury engine?
A: Verify your engine is a Mercury 150 HP EFI model by checking the engine's identification plate or serial number. Cross-reference the OEM part number 8M0094233 with your owner's manual or Mercury parts diagrams to ensure complete compatibility.

Q: How often should I perform this maintenance service?
A: Mercury recommends annual maintenance or every 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first. If you operate in sandy, silty, or saltwater conditions, inspect the impeller and water pump components more frequently—every 50 hours or mid-season.

Q: What are the signs that my water pump impeller needs replacement?
A: Common symptoms include weak water flow from the telltale (pee hole), engine overheating, steam from the engine, or reduced water pressure. If you notice any of these signs, inspect and replace the impeller immediately to prevent engine damage.

Q: Can I install this kit myself or do I need a professional?
A: While experienced DIY mechanics can complete this service with proper tools and the factory service manual, professional installation is recommended. Lower unit disassembly requires torque specifications, proper gasket sealing, and correct impeller orientation to ensure reliable operation.

Q: What's the difference between this aftermarket kit and the OEM Mercury kit?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.

Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.

Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Fun toy
Color: Orange
Well made. The puppies love it, BUT it is too hard for them at an early age ( 2 1/2 months. They ended up grabbing the rope. As they got 5-6 months they were fine. Make another model 1 inch smaller and half as hard Belgian Malinois & Doberman.

Durable & great deal
Color: Orange and Yellow
My foster German Shepherd has a jaw that's locked and loaded but love these cause I can play tug of war or fling it way across the yard. He's chewed or busted every ball he's received except these. I'm loving them. Very durable, bounces too really well and I can find it easily with the colors.

Small balls and came apart
Color: Orange and Yellow
My dog loves them; these are my first set of this type of toy. Good quality materials, but the knot in the rope came undone and the ball came off in 3days. I had someone fix and re-tie and it has held up so far. The next set I’ll get in a larger size, they’re a tad small for my dog’s mouth.
