Original Item – Only One Available. This is the official Russian Space Agency “Korolev” Badge, created in honor of Sergey Korolev, the legendary Chief Designer and father of Soviet space exploration. Awarded under the Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos) as a departmental distinction, it recognized outstanding contributions to cosmonautics, aerospace engineering, and the advancement of Russia’s space program.
The badge is struck in fine enamel and metalwork by the Saint Petersburg Mint, featuring a white cross encircled by a silver laurel wreath, with Korolev’s gilt portrait set against a deep blue enamel medallion. It is suspended from a moiré blue ribbon with silver stripes and accompanied by its miniature lapel pin, both housed in the original presentation case.
Production was strictly limited to only 750 pieces, making it one of the rarest modern Russian space awards ever issued. This particular example is especially desirable for its low serial number, №0119, which adds prestige and collector appeal.
After the 2015 reorganization of the Federal Space Agency into the Roscosmos State Corporation, the award was officially discontinued, ensuring that surviving examples remain highly coveted historical artifacts.
Korolev’s legacy as the architect of Sputnik, Gagarin’s flight, and the foundation of the Soviet space program makes this decoration a fitting tribute to one of the greatest figures in 20th-century science. Today, such early numbered sets are extraordinarily scarce and highly sought after among collectors of Russian space history, Cold War memorabilia, and official state awards.
