Incrediball® Blush Smooth HydrangeaHydrangeas are old fashioned favorite plants, so it's funny to think of them as "innovative." However, many of them do represent the pinnacle of the art and science of plant breeding, and Incrediball Blush is one such plant. It shares the same big, bold blooms and impressive stem strength of Incrediball hydrangea, but in a very cool pink color. It has all the color and appeal of a classic bigleaf hydrangea, but with the foolproof care and amazing cold
Hydrangeas are old-fashioned favorite plants, so it's funny to think of them as "innovative." However, many of them do represent the pinnacle of the art and science of plant breeding, and Incrediball Blush is one such plant. It shares the same big, bold blooms and impressive stem strength of Incrediball hydrangea, but in a very cool pink color. It has all the color and appeal of a classic bigleaf hydrangea, but with the foolproof care and amazing cold tolerance of a smooth (also known as "Annabelle type") hydrangea.
Incrediball Blush hydrangea is perfect for adding to your flower garden, as it blooms all summer long. It also works beautifully in landscape situations, like a hedge, mass planting, or foundation planting. The big blooms are perfect for cutting and arranging, and can be dried to use in wreaths and other crafts.
What makes Incrediball Blush different from other smooth hydrangeas?
- Extra large pink blooms
- Not just any pink: the flowers are a unique silvery-pink that's quite unlike anything else
- Sturdy stems prevent the blooms from falling over after a summer rain. No flopping!
Details:
Name: Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA4' pp#28,280, cbr#5624
Hardiness: USDA zones 3-8
Height + width: 4-5'
Light: Full to part sun
Soil: Any well-drained soil will do. Though dry conditions are unlikely to harm an established plant, prolonged drought will severely limit floral life.
Pruning: Blooms on new wood; prune back by one-third in late winter/early spring for better habit and a slight improvement in stem strength.
Water: Average water needs. Does not tolerate wet conditions.
Fertilizer: Fertilize once in early spring with a rose fertilizer if desired.
Bloom time: Summer, early fall
Bloom color: Silvery-pink. Blooms age to a green color; they can be snipped off to further encourage rebloom or left to age on the plant.
Uses: Thanks to its super-floriferous nature, it's ideal for adding height and volume to perennial gardens and flower beds. Of course, it's also perfect for any landscaping project, thanks to its rock-solid reliability and strong stems.
